I'm very tired because for the last hour I have been walking up and down the middle of the (downtown Toronto) road with my dog because I saw coyote mama and baby crossing and mama made it but baby hid in the bushes AND NO CAR WILL RUN OVER COYOTE BABY ON MY WATCH.

Surely the solution here is just *don't use AI tools* for your writing and research and continue to do your writing and research in ALL the ways you were doing it before you started using AI instead of doing the work??

Same, we just bought a new plug-in hybrid and the cost of our daily trips have gone to 0 (as it's less than 50 km) and the road trip from Toronto to Halifax and back was CAD 500. Insurance has gone up a little (CAD30/month) but that's because our previous car was a 2007 Nissan Rogue with no options.

I've put 10k miles on my new hybrid (no plug-in required, self-charging battery), and some napkin math shows I've saved something like $1,500 on gas compared to my previous car over that span. even agnostic of the environmental benefits, there's no reason not to try a hybrid or electric.

House of the Dragon S03E06 didn't show any dragons NOR CATS (😤) and truly read like show-exclusive misogynistic propaganda (Jeyne Arryn's slap scene, Rhaenyra's truly demented decisions) but it gave us the most hilarious failed assassination scene of recent TV so there's that.

My three countries are on fire. The camp where I went as a kid next to Madrid is ashes, my in-laws had to evacuate their home next to Bordeaux and the Northern Ontario fires are still burning. I want all climate change deniers and Big Oil defenders in the front lines of the flames.

My hot take is that if your country or party has a flag with one or many stars as the main character (Sun included), your country is 1.5 elections (if you are lucky to have them) away from freaky fascism. This, I've suspected since we learned about Akhenaten and his sun cult in high school.

More than the movies or books, the audio drama feels like it's pulling from Asimov's Foundation; specifically, listening to it feels like wandering into a 10,000-year story at an arbitrary point and suddenly getting swept up in the flow of history

I really cannot reiterate enough how absolutely solid gold this audio drama of Star Wars is. Everything about the story has been expanded and enriched, so that it feels like you're diving into a really dense sci fi novel. Fans of Andor, in particular, will love it. youtu.be/0-29uKdckL4?...
