More writers need to let their characters and stories be messy!! I don't necessarily mean going out of your way to introduce drama for the sake of drama. But I do think a lot of writers see the opportunity for mess, but get scared, and try to neutralise it rather than digging into it

for digital art, layer modes are your best friend. multiply helps you keep your lighting consistent when rendering. jury is out on whether or not you should use purple for shading but fuck it, it looks good (and you can always fuck around w/ the color of it later.)

get more passionate. that's my advice. being an artist is super lonely. being a writer is the loneliest. mapping out the wrinkles of your brain and sharing it with the world is vulnerable, especially when no one else seems to care, but passion is the secret. get so passionate it doesn't even matter.
