I wrote about MAHA: How it’s a form of extremism that stands in a long tradition of paranoid conspiracism on the Far Right, how it channels vague grievances into a radical project – and why we must stop it. The Assault on Public Health and the Self-Sabotage of a Nation:

How long it takes and how hard it is to undo the damage will depend in large part on the political will of the people elected to do it. If you get hand-wringing caveat peddlers who want to deliberate for years before acting it'll never happen. Plan has to be ready on day one

"Why's it taking so long to take down the name when they put it up so fast?" yeah, undoing every single thing he's done is gonna be exactly like that, get used to it

The scientists advising Biden during the transition warned him the virus was already evolving the capacity for immune escape so the vaccine alone would not be enough. The day he took office, Biden dismissed the scientists & then appointed a hedge fund guy as his first COVID response coordinator. 4/x

I foolishly assumed Biden’s campaign promise to “follow the science“ meant following the evolving state of knowledge about the virus and adjusting recommendations accordingly. But apparently all he meant was safe and effective vaccine instead of bleach and horse paste. 1/x

I’m afraid that too many people don’t understand just how terrible the Biden pandemic response was—and how it contributed to Trump’s return. I also fear that given how much this administration has dismantled public health, the appetite for looking back and identifying points of failure is low.
