He was our class speaker when I graduated from undergrad (Go Blue!) and then I got to know him better when were both at Columbia.
Congratulations Abdul!!!! I can’t believe I know a Democratic nominee for Senate! Or that this picture was 11 years ago. The idea of Abdul being in the Senate advocating for public health and access to health care, especially at a time when RFKJ is in charge at HHS, is incredible to contemplate.

I’m telling you this as a political scientist. The person who is electable is the one who is elected. This can and does change over time. Any and all speculation about “electability” is either puffery or anxiety and is often both.

“One thing that has to have Michigan Democrats excited even as the Senate race remains uncalled is the turnout for the contest. The Democratic Senate primary has more than 1.5 million votes counted as of early Wednesday. The competitive Republican primary for governor had around 930,000 votes.”

In listening to the audio, it’s clear that Blanche is suggesting strategies restrict or ban abortion nationwide. What he gets wrong, however, is that “making Dobbs permanent” does not means nationwide abortion bad. As bad as Dobbs was, what it stands for is returning abortion TO THE STATES.

This is why I call Seth Moulton’s position on trans girls in sports radical and extreme. It would change decade-old laws. It is a horrific invasion of privacy. And it tells girls that politicians have a right to their bodies. In Congress, I will stand for the privacy and dignity of all children.

As a Religious Studies professor, this directly targets my livelihood in a way that makes a mockery of any supposed profession of concern the administration has ever expressed for me as a Jewish person on campus.
