Chapter One, Page 11 of the webcomic Running Red. "...Catalina..." opens the page, then pictured are two hands holding, then Alexandrus and Catalina embracing and kissing, while Alexandrus says "Te amaré...por siempre...", and a smaller shot of Alexandrus snuggling one of their babies, while Catalina reaches over to him.

Then the scene devolves from a bright yellow background, through orange, down to red. Catalina's neck is pictured, visibly blemished, with Alexandrus' knuckles gently pressed against it, and he says "<Swollen...like the others...>". The next comic page shows more enemies appearing. While Varren fights of two opponents Asger is going through his options in this unfortunate encounter.

This last comic page reveals Asgers plan to fake his death and get rid of Varren this way. But before he could put it to action, Varren already took out his agressor as well, saving his life but taking away his chance at freedom.

Chapter One, Page Ten of the webcomic Running Red. The older gentleman grasps Alexandrus' arm, scooting up right next to him and saying, "I figured you'd been going out at night".
Alexandrus, gaze still downcast, says, "I was about to leave..." and the man interjects, "You're barely standing! Why don't I go to the butcher for you? It would help," and Alexandrus glares at him, a vein popping from his temple, as the man continues, "it's better than risking your life-" and Alexandrus interrupts him in kind, saying, "I am FINE, Loftus. Just...thinking..."
Loftus looks at him sadly, with a "sigh", then, tucking into himself, says, "...about Catalina?"

Chapter One, Page Eight of the webcomic Running Red. A voice comes through the door, "Alexandrus?" with a "knock knock" following. Alexandrus looks down, and thinks, "Ah.". The voice through the door comes again, saying "*huff* Are you in there? *huff* I'm worried for you...*huff*". Alexandrus replies, "Si, son qui..." then stops himself, clears himself with an ahem, and switching to English, says "I'm here." Then he lets out an audible "ugh...", leaning forward with his hands on his nightstand, shaky lines around him. The voice says "Well, may I come in?", to which Alexandrus replies, "Yes...".

Kids need/deserve traumatic films. Films that show death or lasting consequences that aren't resolved almost instantly. Fear, anger, grief and frustration should be part of kids movies. Kids arent stupid, they feel big emotions just like adults, they deserve to see those experiences reflected back.

Wacom recently asked me to talk about why I make queer comics, and given there are multiple bills right now floating around in congress that are effectively "we will kill your livelihood if we get a sniff of queer" I had some pretty strong, simply feelings to relay.
