Another important set of considerations! Having practiced LA, private, Scot, Eng, in person, remote - as an NQEP I think it’s so important to follow this topic and reflect. I often think about the presumption of mainstreaming in Scotland and how that often shapes the EP role as strategic #EdPsychs

I wrote something - kinda a rambling of various thoughts after an...interesting article in iPaper last week TLDR - We need to extend systems thinking to our own profession. We're too small to be divided. We need diverse voice at media and policy level #edpsychs www.linkedin.com/pulse/thinki...

Important considerations about remote assessments and the impact on quality, as well as privatisation of EP work. I always find seeing how the child interacts with the school context to be a valuable piece of information. #EdPsychs inews.co.uk/news/educati...

The traumatic experience of tribunals for EHCPs is often told from the parents' perspective - for good reasons - but looking at it from the school perspective tells us a huge amount about the disaster of the current system. Excellent piece from @ellencph.bsky.social www.tes.com/magazine/ana...

EHCP tribunals: why schools' struggles must guide SEND reform

If the government's plans for tackling the SEND crisis are to be successful, it has to look at the difficulties that the tribunal process is creating for schools, finds Ellen Peirson-Hagger

‘EHCPs aren’t just bureaucratic paperwork – without them, it becomes far harder to ensure the right help gets to the right child at the right time.' Jane Harris, CEO of Speech and Language UK, issues a warning to DfE about scrapping education, health and care plans

Why losing EHCPs would be a disaster for speech and language support

The DfE suggestion that EHCPs may not be the ‘right vehicle’ for SEND support fails to acknowledge the scale of the challenges that children with speech and language needs experience, writes Jane Harris

This is brilliant. It has me reflecting on how, in Scotland, parents aren’t generally fined for children not attending. No praise and behaviour points, where some children feel quantifiably labelled as more ‘bad’ than ‘good’. It certainly isn’t perfect here, but is an interesting contrast! #EdPsychs

Gosh this paper hits the nail on the head… “we argue that the replication crisis could be approached by paying more attention to the context conditions under which psychological realities and knowledge about these realities are being created”. All cognition and behaviour is in context. #EdPsychs

I RAGED at this on the radio yesterday, and will repeat my mantra: you cannot (MUST NOT) ask people to develop 'resilience' or 'grit' against those things that are in your power to change. 'Develop resilience' so often means 'your disability is inconveniencing me, please be less disabled' 🧵

This headline & Streeting's words are an insult to the thousands of neurodiverse kids who've been monumentally failed by an NHS on its knees where early interventions are provided by charities - if at all. But yeah, put the onus back on to children to suck it up instead of addressing what's broken
