Hardest brain in the west. Unpublished, but ever writing. He/Him. Fuck GenAI.
Btw this is roughly what the commercial says: “Creators make the world more interesting." (30 seconds edition) - The story began with one invention. - It's always the creators who make the world more interesting. - So, engineers... - Let's make it. A success story for engineers. - Findy
In the Disney lawsuit, 10 pages are dedicated to citing the work we did. In pursuit of this evidence, Midjourney banned me 3 times and updated their ToS. The first ban encouraged me to dig a lot deeper, so I'd like to congratulate CEO David Holz on his massive unforced error.
🔥 It's happening! Disney and Universal are suing Midjourney and they cited mine and Gary Marcus' work exposing their infringement in their filing. LET'S GO! 🔥

More journalists need to talk about this the way Japanese articles do

Reskeet this until it breaks. Then reskeet it again. We need to flood Congress with phone calls TODAY to make sure they don't slip the dangerous and misguided Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) into a must-pass year end bill. This bill would make kids LESS safe and threatens LGBTQ ppl & human rights.
Stop KOSA Sneak Attack

Hercule Poirot had it exactly right: stay warm, ride trains, keep a mug of hot cocoa on the night stand and pick the sort of career where people regularly invite you to visit their lavish country estates.
As the community here grows, I'm really enjoying the frequent posts of "hey everyone! SUCH-AND-SUCH is here now!" It feels like someone clambering up onto a table at a busy party, drink in hand, to get the attention of a crowd who will then proceed to cheer tipsily for the new arrival.
Please be kind. don’t be the reason someone didn't eat today. don’t be the reason someone hates waking up. don’t be the reason why someone doesn’t join in on a conversation. don’t be the reason why someone hates themselves. trust me, it sticks with them forever
All my favorite artists/fellow writers are here AND no Elongated Muskrat in sight? Must be heaven 😁
The secret is that other writers aren't competition; they're peers, colleagues and friends. Someone who reads me is going to read other writers as well; the entire publishing economy is "yes, and." Therefore it does me no harm, and much good, to support other writers and to wish them well.
And Heinlein would have approved! Terry Pratchett said, "Most SF writers were once fans. There's a habit they have, not of paying back, but of paying forward; I know of no other branch of literature where the established "names" so keenly encourage wannabe writers to become their future competitors
"i hope this site doesn't end up like the last one :(" Hope has nothing to do with it--DO YOUR PART! Twitter & Truth Social are dying. Their users are used to farming outrage for engagement. Don't give them any! 🚫 Don't argue with them! 🚫 Don't quote them! ✅ #BlockAndMoveOn
Don't forget that books are a fantastic Christmas gift. One book is a gift for three people: the person you gift the book to, the author who makes a sale, and YOU, because you can talk to your friend about the awesome book when they've read it too.

A couple of you have asked what length an SF novel should be. Here are SFWA's guidelines for the Nebula Awards: 1. Novel: Over 40,000 words 2. Novella: 17,500 - 40,000 words 3. Novelette: 7,500 - 17,500 words 4. Short story: Under 7,500 words Hope that helps.
So it is not lost to posterity, here is my thread of story ideas inspired by a Chris Pine photoshoot
