Rob is a 28-year-old fighting game obsessed he/they with a tattoo of the echochrome figure on his upper left thigh. They are currently a 2nd Dan in beatmania IIDX, albeit of the HAPPY ANGEL Refugee variety.

Todays post is for @beelzeburbia.bsky.social ! JS ordered a chassis from me which I decided to dress up a little for the photos. It comes with a GP2040 ready to go and an array of options for the aux buttons! I’ve enjoyed our little retro gaming talks! Thank you for believing. ^_^

Why do we call it an "arcade"? This question takes us back to the earliest days of coin-op amusement, the origin of recorded entertainment, and the tumultuous days of technology Trusts. Introducing: The First Arcade (maybe).

A postcard featuring The Arcade building in Cleveland, Ohio, circa 1901. The lower left shows the Ohio Phonograph Company office on the second floor. This is possibly the first location for coin-operated amusements situated inside of an "arcade" style building, potentially giving birth to the term "arcade" as a space for coin-operated machines.
