I'd not encountered Fasulo, and this pattern of coopting progressive language/concerns about environmental impacts was surprising. I went to Insta to see if anyone I know follows her (no shame), and several people do. I think genuine concern is being manipulated here. Appreciate Heated, as usual!

Idk who needs to hear this but Trump has not suddenly become a climate activist — he is just making empty threats to try and pressure oil companies to bring down gas prices before the election (they won’t)

I've seen this person's posts on my reels algorithm, same comments sections as anti-data center posting. If I were teaching a class on Ellul's "Propaganda," I would use this as a prime example. It's very cunning, in fact. Tapping into an existing current and directing it toward desired ends.

worth noting that the right-wing conspiracy theorist -- anti-renewable NIMBY nexus is extremely common. Protect Our Coast Long Island, an anti-offshore wind group, started as a bunch of QAnon believers protesting mask & vaccine requirements during COVID. Pivoted immediately after reqs lifted.
