The CDC’s website now features misleading statistics about how often Americans use guns to protect themselves. The change puts the Trump administration in lockstep with a gun lobby that’s long promoted the idea that a “good guy with a gun” is the only thing that can stop a “bad guy with a gun.”

Inflated Claim About Guns and Self-Defense Returns to CDC Website

The agency’s website now features misleading statistics about how often Americans use guns to protect themselves. Here’s what the data actually shows.

Imagine having grifted millions and millions of dollars off your father’s political career like Don Jr, including government contracts in multiple businesses where you have an ownership stake, and STILL having a Russian oligarch pay for your lavish wedding. Just obscene.

Trump-GOP's 2025 tax policies in action: "Budget forecasters say payments are down 25%, or $96 billion, after falling 15% last year. That’s fueling complaints those investment breaks are providing a windfall for the tech world, and giving a bad deal to taxpayers." www.politico.com/news/2026/09...

Corporate tax payments plunge as AI feasts on new incentives

A generous tax break on capital investments Republicans created in 2025 wasn't designed specifically for the AI boom, but hyperscalers are making the most of it.

Apparently Your City Government Can Legally Poison Your Water Jackson, Mississippi's water pipes are laced with lead. Officials knew it was poisoning 140,000 residents back in 2014 — and hid it. A federal appeals court just ruled the Constitution doesn't care. ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...

Fifth Circuit: Unfortunately, Originalism Means the Government Is Allowed to Poison Your Drinking Water

By defining constitutional rights as narrowly as possible, conservative judges make it easy to conclude that those rights do not exist.

Trump is billing U.S. taxpayers for five cargo jets of Secret Service cars in Ireland. This is a private, personal trip to visit his golf course. Taxpayers have no idea where their tax dollars are going. Rest assured it’s not to better the country or benefit their lives. Trump is robbing us blind.

Recession coming. I mean...we're looking at '73 and '79 right now. Strait of Hormuz closed; Houthis control the Red Sea coast and now Bab el-Mandeb; 800-mile Saudi pipeline hit badly and shut down. Oh yeah war with Iran. Ooof.

Only the willfully blind can believe that handing 🇺🇦 towns to russia will bring peace. It'll usher in WWIII, make its architects complicit in the russian atrocities that follow, repeat the same disastrous policy that got us here. Doing the same thing and expecting a different result is insanity.

Kushner claims there’s a peace deal if only Ukr withdrew from Donbas. Thats not true. Ru wants Ukr withdrawal as the condition to begin peace talks not to end the war. Ru has not agreed to a single thing Ukr wants: NATO membership, peacekeeping troops, reparations, return of kidnapped children, etc.

There are three AI camps: Those who think AI is an imminent threat. Those who don't. And those who couldn't care less. The reality is that one day, maybe tomorrow, maybe in a decade, an AI agent or collective of cooperating, self-organising agents is going to take control of a weapon system.

AI latest: Threat of 'catastrophe any day now' - as tech giants pledge to act

Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei has urged "frontier" companies to slow the rate at which they improve the capabilities of AI models as the technology has been "advancing drastically faster" sin...

Glad 60 Minutes is doing a Jacob Wohl story literally nine years after I reported on that guy. One time he was pretending a scam website he was running wasn't his, so I called the number on the website and it went to his mom's voicemail. Jacob is like training wheels for investigative journalists.
