On his pod this week, @bomani-jones.bsky.social asked an interesting question: Was the '96 US Men's BBall team better than the dream team. So I took a look at all 9 Olympic rosters since the dream team and ranked them by Win Shares/48. By this measure, both '96 and '12 were better than '92

Great point from @davedufour.bsky.social on the pod this morning about Bam and Giannis sharing the floor. The response seemed to be that the Heat have Norm Powell, but that isn't really a solution to the core issue.
The shots not taken: When Wemby was on the floor this season, OKC took 35% fewer shots in the restricted area per 100 possessions than when he was not on the floor.

The Celtics shot 13-of-49 from three in their Game 7 loss. The Rockets went 7-of-44 in 2018 — including 0-of-14 in the third quarter. Everyone says: high 3PT volume = high variance = this is why they lost. But what does the data actually say? 🧵

Interesting to compare the NFL not being at all concerned about this to the constant hand wringing about the NBA all-star game.
Even former Pro Bowler Snoop Huntley is outraged
My older son is a 49ers fan. My younger son is a Seahawks fan. The family chat is a little tense today.
The way this is going, that FG might have just put this game out of reach for the Chargers
Another disaster. This one has actual harmful consequences for trans kids and their families.

Curry was incredible, but the Spurs gave the game away by not using more of the Shot Clock in their 2nd to last possession. Didn’t need to shoot with that much time left.

One more crazy early season Wemby stat: Wemby is creating more shots for his teammates per 100 possessions (14.3) than Steph (14.1). Both are significantly outpaced of course by Jokic (35.5) and CP3 (37.5) min 30 shots created
Obscured by Wemby's magical performance, Stephon Castle had the third best game of his career last night, adding +5.8 net points despite going 5/10 from the line. It becomes his best game if he makes 7/10. espnanalytics.com/nba-box?id=2...
