Aging nerd, office drone and recovering librarian. TTRPGs, retrofuturism, gushing about Pratchett and increasingly radicalised political takes. Please ignore my bad posts, unless they made you mad, in which case know that I meant every word.

Once went to a bao place while blind drunk that served me a pretty simple side dish of rice, egg, onion and small cubes of jellied bone marrow and it was an almost religious experience. Dragged a friend back there when I was sober and it was just... ok. I was distraught.

I don't want to hear about your lost loves, tell me about the restaurant food that haunts you because you'll never be able to taste it again

Running a D&D murder mystery is a nightmare because at any second your players can do some absolute bullshit like 'I transform into a bloodhound and pick up the scent' or 'I cast Speak With Dead on the murder victim' and you now have to improvise why they don't just find out whodunnit immediately

Just listened to @trashfuture.bsky.social talk about how Lord Maurice Glasman wrote a mournful Bossa Nova track about the deposed Crown Prince of Iran called The Shah is Back. Listening to it has permanently altered my brain and folks, you can listen to it too www.politicshome.com/news/article...

Lord Glasman Wrote A Song For The Exiled Crown Prince Of Iran And Played It To Him

Exclusive: Labour peer Maurice Glasman wrote and recorded a song dedicated to Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last Shah of Iran, in support of his exi...

One of these days I'm going to work on my TTRPG white whale and write that cyberpunk game about how the future isn't a grim noir dystopia with neon everywhere and LED collars but is, in fact, incredibly fucking stupid. Not the app, I should be clear the app is great. Just all the rest of this BS

I have been expressing desire for an app that alerts me to the presence of pervert glasses in my vicinity. It exists and it's called Nearby Glasses! Immediate download.

Such a shame to hear about Sam Neill's passing. Just the absolute platonic ideal of Guy I Love To See In A Movie. Insanely prolific filmography packed with straight bangers, always a delight when he turns up on screen and one of the rare few to avoid having a 'Controversies' section on his Wikipedia

Theres a new Ghost in the Shell that's more faithful to the original manga and has a 90s anime aesthetic. I'm watching it and the vibes are immaculate, but then in the final 30 seconds the Major tells an abused orphan to stop leeching off welfare and get a job and it hits me like a flashbang

Anime image of a young woman with gray-blue hair, a large grey visor resting on her forehead and a light tan jacket with angular shoulders standing in front of a red object with police written across it

I went on holiday to San Francisco back in 2005 and it was a beautiful city full of fascinating, awesome people. Genuinely horrifying to see tech rot out it's soul so now it's where 'founders' go into the AI psychosis confessional booth after being told to get a real job

Screenshot of a tweet with the handle cropped out. It reads 'my cofounder talking to an AI garry tan after a potential customer told her to go get an entry level job'. Below is a photograph of a woman sitting in a white plastic booth with an open back and filled with orange soundproofing material. In front of her is a large screen with Garry Tan, a bearded and bespectacled asian man, pictured on it.

This is incredible but I want to add that I've been aware of the GarfieldEats guy for a while and the funniest thing about it is that it was a pizza restaurant. Easiest layup in the world and he fucks it up.

Anyone else getting something weird happening with a bunch of random accounts that don't seem to be spambots liking exactly 3 of your old posts out of the blue?

Feeling almost guilty as me and @stephengraves.co.uk just had a great conversation about how nostalgia-driven franchise blockbusters finally seem to be yielding to something new, then immediately went to see Masters of the Universe and absolutely enjoyed the shit out of it

Hugely sad. We've lost John Blanche. It's hard to know where to begin. He set fire to a generation's imagination, and those fires show no sign of stopping burning. His work very much illuminated the darkness.
