Mazel tov to Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Michigan primary! We’re proud to share his progressive vision for a country where all can thrive and afford healthcare. If he wins the general in November, he will break ground as our country’s first-ever Muslim senator.

Fourteen years ago today, the deadliest act of anti-Sikh hate in our nation’s history occurred in Oak Creek, WI. A white supremacist gunman with neo-Nazi ties attacked the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, ultimately leading to the deaths of seven sangat members and wounding others.

"As we mourn the attack, we are appalled that legacy Jewish organizations have erased the Asian victim entirely and used the violence as an opportunity to further a narrative of fear about New York City’s mayor." Read our full statement after the attack on the Upper West Side.

To mourn and honor the lives Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, Johan Sebastian Guerrero, and all others who have been brutally and senselessly killed by ICE in the last weeks (and months, and years), last week Bend the Arc joined a multifaith vigil in New York City. We demand an end to ICE's violence.

Grief and rage as painful images emerge from Madison, WI. One thing is clear: Corey Ruiz should be alive. There is no justification for this violence. And each and every life taken by police — each one a universe — is a grim reminder that for so many in this country, safety is not a reality.

Today, Bend the Arc was proud to help launch the End the ICE Age campaign alongside @ramirez.house.gov and our partners. The evidence is clear: ICE’s continued presence means grave harm for our communities. Congress must pass the Melt ICE Act now.

Today, surrounded by activists and organizers, we demanded an END to the ICE age, an end to family separations, an end to our children being tormented, and an end to our communities being terrorized.

Dreamers came here as children. They've built lives, families, and careers in the U.S. for decades. They deserve permanent protection, not a constant threat of detention and deportation. Congress must pass the bipartisan American Dream and Promise Act now, before more families are torn apart.

Yet another heartbreaking and unfortunately foreseeable tragedy. This doesn't need to happen. How many more lives will be destroyed before Congress takes action to address the problem they've abundantly funded? The evidence is clear: ICE's continued presence is a threat to all of our safety.

ICE has shot and killed two people in less than a week, in Texas and in Maine. We know about this violence because it happened outside, where neighbors were there to witness it. We often do not find out what happens to those ICE abducts until much later, if ever.

Poetica Coffee made a post criticizing Congressman Dan Goldman right before his NY primary race. What followed were protests and death threats.

His name was Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. And he is another neighbor who was killed on our streets by ICE. We’ve heard DHS claims that those they’ve murdered have used their vehicle as weapons before. And that’s why we can’t take anything they say at face value.

250 years ago, the nation's founders affirmed that all are “created equal, endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights.” They echoed the Jewish concept of b’tzelem Elohim — that we are all created in the divine image. But in the U.S., this promise was, and remains, an aspiration. 1/
