It’s a hard time to sell it amid low growth and post-austerity, but the UK needs a tax positivity movement. As @jdcmedlock.bsky.social says, taxes come in all shapes and sizes + all deserve love. I pay less income tax here than I did in Australia. Time to pull the “moar tax” lever on everyone

The Works in Progress libertarian types were (and sometimes still are) genuinely interesting. But they no longer interact much with the liberal left because they live on different platforms (Bluesky v X). This appears to be having a radicalising effect, and just making them a bit dumber

But it’s also that bizarre thing where politicians on both sides of the pond believe that if they stand for higher ed, they are going to be defending a posh, pipe smoking, rich professor man wearing a tweed jacket who has an office with leather chairs and wooden paneling: a complete caricature.
