benstylus 🐧 The Once and Future Urban Champion

I'm benstylus. I block/mute ai slop peddlers, bots, constant doomers, overly abrasive people, techbros, etc. Nothing personal, just here to be happy. DM's are OK but don't send unsolicited commissions/sales/fundraisers/etc. he/him they/them

If this is what it comes down to now, the constant specter of AI in every fan translation, it's probably a sign that we need to go full force on studying and learning Japanese. It'll give us a useful skill AND any time a new slop translation comes out we'll be able to pooh-pooh it with no worries

Giving a heads-up on a potential GenAai translation released today after doing a bit of investigation as I know it's one that'll have some buzz: Saturn cyberpunk RPG Cyberdoll. There is no mention of it in on the github and details BUT it's from the same team who did Segagaga's and used it.

Just got back from my local library with three new books to read and a whole lot more i'm thinking about for next time. If you haven't been to your library lately, I encourage you to go and borrow something. Library funding is based largely on usage so the more you use it, the more $ they can get!

Anyway if you want new games like Professor Layton that aren't made with AI, look up the Detective Grimoire games (Tangle Tower / The Mermaid's Mask)

I'm excited for this. I ordered Jeremy's SG-1000 book back when he posted that video of himself with the shipment recently arrived in the LRG warehouse. It took a month and a couple followup emails to LRG customer service to get it shipped. For an in stock item.

A brief note about my future book projects, beginning with the first volume of SMS Works (which is to say, it's mostly an excuse to create this thumbnail): A small announcement about SMS Works in print youtu.be/ePfVfWy0ks8

Not to be blunt but not buying particular books and movies for your child is actually super easy and my parents did it to me all the time because they were the parents and I was the child

"I already boycott The New York Times/don't have a subscription, what can I do?" A lot! You can: * Share our call for boycott. Tell others about the NYT's role in trans genocide * Stop sharing NYT links, even to dunk on them * Pressure the pension/retirement funds invested in the NYT to divest

"If trans people want a boycott of The New York Times, where's the call to do so?" Here is a declaration laying out how the NYT is a key driver of trans genocide, why boycotts work and why anyone who gives a damn about trans lives and rights must boycott The New York Times.

there used to be a strong correlation between seeing neat things online, and the person who made it: 1. is very knowledgeable and passionate about it 2. put love and care into it 3. is getting recognition for it but that trust is now gone, the grifters skipped to step 3, the slop ghouls have won

Hi I'm a AAA dev who is now indie. It's a depressing time, and it would be uplifting to see games industry folks boycott The Game Awards. Later this year Geoff is going to be handing awards to people who literally use plagiarism machines, after unheard of layoffs. Please just don't go.
