When I asked an owner of a liquor store here in Calgary if he was ordering new inventory of US products.. "Why would I or any business spend money and use up valuable shelf space for products that their customers aren't buying?"
My friend, legendary playwright Allan Stratton, posted this. My American friends get mad when I say stuff like this. But they need to hear it.
Where is the outrage when two pedestrians are killed when a driver runs a red light and strikes them on a sidewalk? So far, none of our elected officials have said a word. seanmarshall.ca/2026/07/21/w...

I joined during the pandemic when people couldn’t help themselves. Post pandemic, food security is still something many in Toronto are fight for every day. If you can, come and volunteer. If you can’t help spread the word throughout #BikeTO - CBC The National May30th 2021 youtu.be/rOZZ_K9M7V8?...

It's Monday, and it's morning. That's two strikes against the day already.
One of the reasons why the ongoing meltdown about Zohran asking people to set their A/C to 78 bothers me is that it seems to be a symptom of post-COVID unwillingness for individuals to do anything for the common good, and if we don’t have that we’re in a very bad place as a society.
How to tell you're in Canada. It's July 1st, the main TV in the restaurant has the FIFA game on. All the smaller screens are showing hockey.
I went out for an early morning walk at 7:00 am today. It was already like hiking in a sauna! Take care out there everyone, and bring plenty of water!
The more people who take public transit, the better it gets. The more people who drive, the worse it gets.
Here's something to keep in mind... All this AI stuff is programs running on computers. Computers are based on silicon. Silicon is refined from sand. Sand is just ground up rocks. So your average AI is just barely more sentient than your average rock.
This is something I would very much like to see. Since you already need to periodically renew your driver's license, I would make the renewal conditional on passing a driving test.
What if you had to take your drivers test at least every 10 years? A lot changes over time. Including knowledge/memory of the road rules, driver skills and ability, and the size and deadliness of vehicles.
Okay, so I'm two and a half weeks behind, but (ht @timothychambers.net ) this is fantastic and a reminder of why *protocols* matter so much over platforms, no matter what people say about any particular site or service.

American voters, please remember this. A vote for any Republican is a vote to allow Donald Trump to continue destroying the country with impunity. Not even at the halfway point in his Term, Donald Trump has done more damage to the USA's reputation than the USSR managed over its entire existence.
Lindsey Graham on Sen. Cassidy's defeat: "If you try to destroy President Trump, you're gonna lose, because this is the party of Donald Trump"
Please “go Native.” You’ve heard this phrase. “Welp, he’s gone Native.” Good. That would mean he’s for clean water for all, free housing for all, free medicine for all. Free childcare for all. Free education for all. So, by all means, go Native.
