One of the reasons why the ongoing meltdown about Zohran asking people to set their A/C to 78 bothers me is that it seems to be a symptom of post-COVID unwillingness for individuals to do anything for the common good, and if we don’t have that we’re in a very bad place as a society.

Here's something to keep in mind... All this AI stuff is programs running on computers. Computers are based on silicon. Silicon is refined from sand. Sand is just ground up rocks. So your average AI is just barely more sentient than your average rock.
This is something I would very much like to see. Since you already need to periodically renew your driver's license, I would make the renewal conditional on passing a driving test.
Brent Toderian@brenttoderian.bsky.social · 11mo agoWhat if you had to take your drivers test at least every 10 years? A lot changes over time. Including knowledge/memory of the road rules, driver skills and ability, and the size and deadliness of vehicles.
Okay, so I'm two and a half weeks behind, but (ht @timothychambers.net ) this is fantastic and a reminder of why *protocols* matter so much over platforms, no matter what people say about any particular site or service.
