We are located in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park. We want to better understand cell-type specific mechanisms underlying brain physiology and pathology.

Today, Marc Canela defended his PhD on the Behavioral and Brain substrates of Second Order Conditioning. Congratulations for a great defense! It is the third thesis of the lab and I am really proud of each of these achievements as, being a PI, you can learn from each thesis.

We did our Christmas lunch remembering the good and bad achievements of 2025. Celebrating one's and learning from the others. 2026 will be another exciting year for us. Very happy of the Christmas present I have received from my lab!! Proud PI :)

It was a pleasure to present some of our Lab projects on social cognition in the @neuroalc.bsky.social . I am very happy for the nice discussion at the end of the talk and also for the opportunity to learn from really exciting projects that are being developed in this neuroscience institute.

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Arnau Busquets @bgarcialab.bsky.social from the Hospital del Mar Research Institute at #SeminarsIN with his talk: “Exploring the brain circuits underlying socio-cognitive behaviors in mice”. A fantastic lecture, thank you! 👏 @csic.es @dicv.csic.es @umh.es

Today, during the first meeting of the psychoneuroimmunology society held in Granada, our PhD student Irene Ferreres will be presenting our latest findings on the impact of adolescent stress on kynurenine metabolism in microglia and astrocytes. 📍 Poster 20 | 🕚 11:00–13:00

Tomorrow, I will be in Zaragoza participating to a new edition of the Research Career Course organized by the @academiajoven.bsky.social . During this course we will discuss about research funding, evaluation, dissemination, ethics, emotional management, among other important topics. .

The wildfire touching Marseille prevented me to be in the symposium, to share our project linking astrocytes, cannabinoid drugs and Alzheimer disease and to attend to the interesting @gliameeting.bsky.social ! I am sure the symposium conducted by @murphyroyallab.org has been a success!

Together with Ciaran @murphyroyallab.org, from the Université de Montreal, we are co-chairing today the Symposium "Understanding the roles of astrocytes in cognition and behaviour across the lifespan" in the @gliameeting.bsky.social in Marseille.

Heading to the @ebbsociety.bsky.social meeting in Bordeaux to enjoy 4 days in a fantastic city, meeting colleagues and friends and enjoying a great scientific program. Our lab will contribute showing our different research lines.

Did you ever wonder why we often feel ungrounded attraction or aversion by certain places, smells, or foods? Our brain does that by infering value from indirect associations in a process called higher-order conditioning. 🧵Here’s what we found using an specific paradigm in mice:
