A gracious concession: “I want to congratulate Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. He is a doctor, a community health official, a Rhodes Scholar, and a dedicated Michigander. I am proud to offer my support as he takes on Mike Rogers in the general election…

It’s true, in the past I would have had multiple editors in my inbox asking me to write about the Cunningham stuff. I haven’t gotten a single assignment request. Trans writers used to be tokenized to write about these things but now that the topic is “mainstream,” those bylines go elsewhere.

I need people to understand that for the last half decade that there’s been an ecosystem of trans folks in sports media who have worked unpaid to serve as experts for context, sources and educators on what it’s like for trans athletes, in hopes of potential bylines and contacts. That’s dried up.

If we’re going to keep Michigan’s Senate seat blue, the Democratic Party needs to embrace El-Sayed. In the coming months, he needs endorsements from Obama, Biden, Harris, Whitmer, even Schumer. Find common ground. It’s all hands on deck.

It Wasn’t a Blowout, but El-Sayed Won. Get Behind Him, Democrats.

It’s an earthquake to have Bernie Sanders’s candidate defeat Gretchen Whitmer’s candidate in Michigan. But the real goal is to keep Donald Trump’s candidate from winning this seat.

side note: it is such a tell that transphobes insist on using “trans” as a freestanding noun so they don’t have to say the word “people” alongside it

i should add- breaking the collarbone of a baby who is the granddaughter of a REPUBLICAN US SENATOR is not a bridge too far for republicans. max miller is the villain in this story but bernie moreno looks like a feckless loser, allowing his party to carry on this way. what a pathetic bunch.

El-Sayed: People shouldn't starve to death or die from lack of access to health care. GOP, media: He's a far Left radical Muslim gay commie trans Marxist DEI CRT terrorist who probably watches women's sports, eats vegetables, and has EMPATHY for people.

The NRSC makes it clear how they will attack Abdul El-Sayed, calling him by his full name "Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed" and tying him to Hasan Piker. #MISen

Abdul El-Sayed: The Most Radical Candidate in America
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed's victory in Michigan Democrats' messy primary, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released a new digital ad exposing his socialist tax hike agenda, ties to terrorist sympathizer Hasan Piker, and praise for a designated terrorist organization.
"El-Sayed is the most radical Democrat Senate nominee ever. His support of terrorist organizations, socialist policies, and the defunding of law enforcement makes him dangerous and ultimately disqualified from serving," said NRSC Chairman Tim Scott. "Michigan has had two Democrat Senators for decades, so we cannot take anything for granted, but we will do everything we can to make sure El-Sayed never steps foot in the U.S. Senate."

Republicans: "Listen. Sure, he broke a toddler's collar bone and did other domestic violence, but pointing that out is just a Demoncrat distraction from President Trump's brilliant thousand-year Reich. TDS is much worse than rape, pedophile, murder, treason. We cannot lose a House seat."

Mike Johnson tells Politico that he's standing behind Republican Max Miller — despite the "serious" domestic abuse allegations against him.

The shoddy thinking behind this piece is embarrassing and makes zero differentiation between athletes taking a stand for equality and inclusion vs bigotry. Plus, it lumps MAGA and TERFs with Civil Rights icons. This is lazy, ignorant, and morally reprehensible from my ex-employer.

Aaron Rodgers spoke out about Dr. Anthony Fauci. Sophie Cunningham spoke out about transgender athletes. Caitlin Clark chose not to weigh in. Three different approaches, one common result: criticism. Steve Buckley on how athletes can't win on social media: nyti.ms/3Sa9A7D

In World War One, the advent of the tank -- particularly the 1917 Battle of Cambrai -- was a way to end the slaughterhouse of infantry-led static trench warfare. Airpower and specialist stormtrooper squads also came of age just as drones are an inflection point reshaping modern war.

Russia and Ukraine are producing ever larger numbers of innovative aerial weapons, hoping for a breakthrough as ground combat is largely frozen.
