Proud Swedish Australian. Will keep meddling and demanding better, tyvm.
I’m a proud Canadian, so some will say this is “none of my business” (they’re wrong), but the entire world badly needs a hell of a lot better USA than this.
Been seeing more and more transphobic stickers going up around the place. They look well intentioned - there's a rainbow heart, there's messaging about being perfect just how you are. But when you read into it, it's just #transphobe garbage. Slap something better on top since I couldn't peel it off.
Partook in some mild #carryshitolympics with the #omnium minimax yesterday. Bedding straw for the chooks. #bikeposting

I wrote a little thing about The Overland, travelling from Adelaide to Melbourne. karloskar.au/the-overland #trains #trainposting
The Overland
The story of Serviceton is quite interesting. The town sprung up around the train station that existed only because South Australia and Victoria picked different rail gauges for the networks.

I was so surprised by today's ride up Chamber's Gully in #Adelaide that I had to write about it: spokes-person.com/they-paved-p... (What's the Bluesky equivalent of #Biketooter?)
Chamber's Gully - They Paved Paradise
I'd heard rumours that the trail had been "upgraded", so decided I needed to go and take a look. As I entered the trail from Waterfall Gully Road I didn't think it was too different. A few creek cross...

“Bike-lanes take up too much space & make streets dangerous!” (They actually make streets safer for everyone. Data doesn’t lie. On streets with protected bike-lanes, crash rates typically drop—for drivers, cyclists, & pedestrians.) See @momentummag.bsky.social for more comebacks to common myths.
“We can’t all be expected to bike.” Fair. But that’s not the point. “Not everyone can or wants to bike. But some people can & do—and they deserve a safe, efficient, affordable way to move through the city. It’s about freedom of choice.” This & other useful comebacks, in @momentummag.bsky.social.
Happy National Wattle Day! A day to celebrate Australia and being Australian. But after the way some Australians behaved yesterday, I am not feeling it.
My council is going to put in a zebra crossing near my street. I wrote to them last year about making my street a #woonerf which got shut down pretty firmly by the mayor, but now they're going to build a zebra crossing. A step in the right direction! Read my take: spokes-person.com/a-step-in-th...
A step in the right direction
This is an area that has had some attention in recent years, getting a concrete protrusion into the street to give pedestrians a better view of the street for safer crossing. It now looks like it's go...

I knew I wanted wide tyres, which is why we picked the Bloomfield. I like rim brakes. They look good and they're easy to maintain. It works great aesthetically.

I'm 5 minutes into the latest season of #survivorau and I am out. I can't handle these people.
Wrote a thing about a little square in Palermo. #walkablecities #walkableneighbourhoods #walkableneighborhoods spokes-person.com/parking-lot/
Parking lot
Turns out that the square on Via Guiseppe Mario Puglia wasn't always a gorgeous music filled space with a restaurant and bar. It took concerted effort. And what a result!

Pushed my luck and tuned my high-E to D too many times. Now I have no high-E string at all. No Choctaw Bingo playin' for me. (ping @arcticvelocipedist.bsky.social )
I did another interview with a #bike person. Have a read of my chat with Caz here. Feel free to subscribe if you want to read more of my bike-themed stuff. spokes-person.com/a-chat-with-... #cycling #bikepacking #travel #interview #blog

I wrote a post about Train Street in Hanoi. You can read here: karloskar.au/train-street... Feel free to subscribe and you'll get the occasional blog or photo in your mailbox. :)
Train Street, Hanoi
The train approached. Slowly, but in that clearly unstoppable way. Rails bending as each bogie rolled past, all within easy reach. Once the locomotive had passed, the noise was a consistent clunking i...

Hey #Adelaide. Is there a #jobhunting hashtag? I'm currently looking for a new job - management at current gig are making some very questionable moves, and I need to get out of there. At the moment I'm managing a Labware LIMS. Would be happy to keep doing that - just not in the place where I am
Did you know that I interview people about bikes? And do a wee little photoshoot at the same time? Do you want to be part of it? If you're in Adelaide, it's easy. We catch up. Drink coffee* and chat. Then we ride somewhere and do photos. If you're not in Adelaide, it's less easy.
