A🧵 This is profoundly irresponsible by AGSulzberger’s NYT, @by-cjewett.bsky.social +eds. The normalization, “view-from-nowhere”, “born-yesterday”, stenography, “both-sides”, irresponsible headline are disgraceful. THE story is the CDC&FDA are being destroyed by antiscience & Americans will die. 1/n
One of the best signs so far and those huddled masses that we're fighting for. No Kings
I was at the the No Kings march in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Many elderly or disabled folks who couldn’t make it to Manhattan, but also young families and people of all ages. I stood in the same spot for more than an hour and the stream of protesters was constant. Amazing turnout.

What we are witnessing is an outright abuse of power. This administration is attacking critics and using fear as a weapon to silence anyone who would speak out. Media corporations — from television networks to newspapers — are capitulating to these threats.
JD Vance wants to go after the Ford Foundation, eh? Interestingly, the Ford Foundation has long been in the crosshairs of the American far right for their supposed funding of "hateful, radical left, anti-white propaganda." Here's an example of that talk from the 1955 edition of The White Sentinel.
To state the obvious, I was not paid by the Ford Foundation or Open Society to write the column, which is what Vance is alleging and he's saying he is going after those groups. Not the first time he's spouted conspiracy theories involving the Soroses to deflect criticism: apnews.com/article/jd-v...

In the words of my colleague, the data supports evidence that vaccine saves lives. I believe this data. This data is accurate.
As a physician and scientist, I believe in evidence based medicine. I believe in science. So I traveled one hour to another state armed with #BlackDoctorsMatter shirt and #mask to get my #covid19 vaccine and took my #flu shot too #vaccinatenow #vaccinesavelives
Today is Grandparents Day, and a new group, Grandparents for vaccines, has launched. Many grandparents have seen what vaccines can do, & suffered the infections that can now be prevented. They don't want us to go back to the age when measles & polio were rampant.

AI company Anthropic agrees to pay $1.5B to settle lawsuit with authors
If approved, the settlement would be the largest in the history of American copyright cases, according to a lawyer for the authors behind the lawsuit.

Everyone’s using AI-powered notetakers - but no one’s talking about the risks. From legal exposure to client trust, that quiet little bot in your meeting could be creating big problems behind the scenes. https://bit.ly/3USbVBW
Okay, so Anthropic settles. The settlement is $1.5B for 500,000 authors. They just raised $13B to get them to a total valuation of $183B. As far as they're concerned, this settlement is a rounding error.
