itd be one thing if the show had Mari make a bunch of friends and got closer to her family thanks to Lara, but her friend group was Gon-Chan and Lara, and now it's...no one? Like what about her mom, wishing for someone to stand by her side so she doesn't have to be so strong all the time?

more than anything else i feel like this is just such a sad ending for mari. gon-chan is dead and lara isn't by her side anymore. it doesnt come off to me as "sad, yet hopeful," it feels like the show is ending with both protagonists unhappy.

kinda shocked by some people going "well sayolara's ending was good because [very well thought out analysis] so people not liking it means they're not literate enough for this show or "well lesbians think [this]" and im like man it depends I think it's valid to react emotionally to art
