Rain delay theater on the radio: Mike Shannon interviewing Bob Gibson and Joe Torre. It took me a minute to register that it was a 20-year-old tape. In my head, all three of those guys are still very much with us. ❤️

Still not Lou Brock. She/her.
Extraordinarily weary of hearing about ThE FiGhT fOr ThE sOuL oF tHe DeMoCrAtIc PaRtY when the Republicans are a bunch of pedophile-protecting, wife-abusing criminals, morons, and bigots. FOCUS, people.
My first-ever muted word on BlueSky is "AIPAC" and my quality of life has already gone up dramatically
Both Democratic candidates for Senate in Michigan seem pretty terrible to me, and they seem to have brought out the worst in a lot of people, so yay, I guess, good luck in November.
Hate it when my amendment makes it more difficult to amendment (good job MO, seriously….wish you were this smart about picking senators)
The Amendment would make it more difficult to amendment Missouri's constitution.
If you’re wondering how many times Claibs has called Nelson Velásquez “Nelson Cruz” in this inning, the answer is 2, so far. To be fair he’s playing on hard mode because the pitcher is named Cruz and that’s broken his brain. #STLCards
My unpopular opinion as a midwestern WASP at heart is that way too many people are way too eager to share that they’re struggling on social media and then we have to talk about FEELINGS <shudder>
On social media, a broad consensus is that you can’t admit to struggle — at least not while you’re struggling. Doing so represents a failure so profound it’s almost existential. How did it become mandatory to demonstrate perpetual growth and progress online?
If you are reading today's Bradbury story, be aware that something bad happens to a dog. (Also humans, but that has already occurred when the story starts).
Singing “where the trees are all gross” to the tune of “where the streets have no name”
Trump: "Look at the blue cities. What do they have in common? They're all dirty. They're filthy dirty. Their streets are dirty. Their streets smell. Their storefronts are broken. Their trees are all gross. Everything about the place is dirty. It's really all of them."
Not a joke: watching docuseries like Air Crash Investigation also helps with this, because you realize that every crash 1) is the result of multiple factors coinciding, and 2) leads to modifications that make the situation unlikely ever to repeat.
You ever do that thing when you’re staying at an airport hotel where you see how often big planes take off — one after another! — and it helps you chill out and remember that no you’re not going to crash. Like it’s really not likely. Just me maybe.
Thanks for the handful of memories, Dustin May, and for being a trailblazer. You were getting nearly killed by lettuce long before it was cool.
My 26-pound dog launched herself into me and I yelled "FUCK" and dropped my groceries, so no
Do you think you take a hit from a NFL player and not fumble the ball at your age?
A well-deserved W for George Soriano! #STLCards #pitcherwinsarestupid
here’s the thing: as a fan of baseball playing and not baseball business the two-time defending champs with like 19 MVPs and cy young winners adding yet another megastar just makes me lose interest in the sport, i don’t care who it’s “right” for me to get mad at
Those of you eager to serve wealthy MLB owners as volunteer Pinkertons won’t like to read this, but as usual Joe Sheehan nails the real problem:
True story, I helped Justine Siegal's daughter with her homework once over Twitter but then Justine blocked me later over something political that I can no longer remember. Anyway YAY for @sarahspain.com and everyone else there to kick off the WPBL!!!
An hour of dead air is definitely a broadcasting choice. Could have had broadcasters educating the public on the players or the league or the rules or literally anything. It’s rough.
Awaiting the big WPBL debut. The players had to be their own grounds crew and now ESPN has absolutely dick-all happening during the rain delay, because it's not like they could use the time to introduce viewers to any of these players or anything. The PROTECT WOMEN'S SPORTS gang is gonna be so mad.
Trade Gastelum and Crooks for Jacob Misiorowski, is my idea
Actually the Cardinals can wear live weasels on their heads if they just get someone besides Mike Claiborne to do play-by-play.
Perhaps we can all agree that these Blue Jays uniforms look dreadful?
Shark Week is almost over and Trump still hasn’t been eaten by one so what even is the point?
Got a good job down at the Data Center. I work on the line, and it's hard work but it's honest and the wage is fair; my family and I are grateful for it. I rivet the word "absolutely" onto the little apologies that chatbots do when they misunderstand a prompt.
Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."
Why is Luis Gastelum on my TV again and why is he our go-to 10th-inning guy when he has apparently never stranded an inherited runner in his life
This country is in the hands of people who are as cavalier and careless as they are stupid and racist. My god, this is shameful. Do you suppose anyone said "hey, wait a minute, why is the Ivory **COAST** landlocked?" Nah, just kidding, that would require knowing basic facts and giving a shit.
