The most glaring double standard in American politics today is that if a Democrat said 1/10th about GOP-leaning areas what this guy says about cities on the daily there'd be a media dogpile so swift and vicious there'd be nothing left of their bones for the hyenas to pick at.

The thing about all this is that there is a market for his fabulism, a market for the racists hunting Black faculty, a market for the play-by-play of racists vs Cambridge, and so on, and they are all bigger than the market for serious work about race and racism.
