So that happened was: I thought my game was saving to the 'Games' folder because there was a .sav file in there. So I made a backup of that .sav, updated the game, and brought the save back in. The game booted with no save data. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong...

this afternoon i filed a story on a geo group-run ICE detention complex in southeast georgia. aside from the reporting, which took me in some wild directions, my biggest takeaway is that closing a jail or prison is not enough. the buildings themselves have to be repurposed so they cannot be refilled
