Found the weirdest thing when we stopped for ice cream after a waterfall hike. Apparently it's the "first confirmed UFO experience" in MA (not independently verified by me).

A plaque signed by then Gov of MA, Charlie Baker acknowledging the off world experience of Thomas Reed: "ON BEHALF OF THE CITIZENS OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS, I AM PLEASED TO CONFER UPON YOU THIS GOVERNOR'S CITATION IN RECOGNITION OF THE OFF-WORLD INCIDENT ON SEPTEMBER 1, 1969, WHICH ENGAGED THE REED FAMILY, WHICH HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED. YOUR DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE INCIDENT WAS FACTUALLY UPHELD, FOUNDED, AND DEEMED HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT AND TRUE BY MEANS OF MASSACHUSETTS HISTORIANS. THE RECORDS HIGHLIGHTING THE HISTORIC EVENT ARE NOW OFFICIALLY PART OF THE GREAT BARRINGTON, MA HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S COLLECTION AND YOUR RECENT INDUCTION INTO MASSACHUSETTS HISTORY.

THIS THIRD DAY OF NOVEMBER IN THE YEAR 2015"A monument at UFO Park MA.

This was my entry. I used Einkorn which is a typically very hard grain to work with, but tastes amazing. I used pepitas and black & white sesame for my seeds. I didn't rack in the top 3, but am looking forward to feedback from the judges sometime in the next week.

A loaf of sandwich bread on a metal cooling rack with a vase of flowers just above it. Both are on a wooden table. The flower vase has mostly green leaves of different types and a small bunch of small white flowers of a type unknown to me.
The sandwich bread is arranged horizontally with a wavy pattern of black and white sesame seeds running across the loaf on the lower half of the top face. The pattern ends at a score line running the length of the loaf. The loaf is a rich brown color with a slightly darker shade along the lip of the score line. A side on view of a loaf of sandwich bread with a white and black sesame seed pattern of stripes on the right side and a pronounced lip along the score line on top.

Le Grand Prix Elmendorf du Pain starts in East Cambridge in just over an hour from now. I dropped off my seeded sandwich loaf earlier this morning. #bread #sourdough #ecba #elmendorf #cambridgema eastcambridgeba.com/le-grand-pri... img1.wsimg.com/isteam/ip/6a...

Poster of "Le Grand Prix Elmendorf Du Pain 2026". The poster is split into three rectangular sections arranged horizontally to form a larger rectangle. The center section is black with a yellow circle in the center and a drawing of a rooster in a chef's hat walking and carrying a bread boule on a platter on the tip of its right wing. The text "Le Grand Prix" is at the top and "Elmendorf 20 DU PAIN 26, Parisian Street Fair" is below.
The left section is red with two circles arranged vertically with a right facing arrow between them. The top circle is off-white and has the date "Sunday June 14th" in it and the bottom circle is yellow with the text "12PM to 4PM" in it.
The right section is yellow with two circles arranged vertically with a left facing arrow between them. The top circle is off white with the text "ECBA" with the East Cambridge Business Association Logo, and the bottom circle is red with the location "Cambridge Street & Eight" written in it. The "&" symbol is presented as the iris of an eye.
Each of the sections is outlined in an off-white border. The rectangles have straight vertical borders with the horizontal borders being slightly jagged to mimic the feeling of paper that has been torn off a sheet or weathered with time.

The Peacock app on Xfinity uses a QWERTY keyboard on a TV screen that you can only navigate using the cursor keys on your remote. For some reason bsky won't let me attach a photo of this screen.

Someone used my phone number to book a restaurant reservation for this weekend. What should I do with it? So far I've entered the "Anything else we should know" field for the booking to say that whoever made the reservation used my phone number and I hope they have some other contact info.

Apparently Google will not let you block X from your discovery feed. You can only block individual accounts. Support forums are full of folks asking how to block all of X from showing up in Discovery. Time to turn off discovery completely.

Tried to make Panettone but ended up with Volcanotonne. Apart from the shape, it came out well. 50% whole wheat and used my own strain of yeast extracted from the skin of a mango. The overflow was due to excessively deep scoring.

Photo of a loaf of Panettone in an aluminum tin on a wire rack. The Panettone has spilled over on one side of the pan. Photo of the inside of the Panettone with the crumb and dried fruits visible.
