Bartender at the Blue Whale in Collinsport, 1968. Pouring drinks, playing the jukebox & puffing on my stogie. I've seen some things. #DarkShadows Roleplaying with Shadows of Collinwood

It's spooky season! The leaves turn colors and fall around the house on the hill, while down in Collinsport sheaves of corn and pumpkins are popping up everywhere as folks decorate for Halloween. At the Blue Whale, I'm getting things ready, too, by stocking the juke box with the creepiest tunes.

An autumnal view of the great house of Collinwood through orange tinted bushes, lit by the low sun. The bare branches of a tree frame the top of the shot.

Time now for my occasional series "Women with great hair fleeing gothic houses!" For 30 years gothic romance, with its iconic covers, was a staple of the publishing industry. Then it just seemed to vanish. Let's look back at the gothic genre and try to uncover its dark, forbidding secret...

Bob slowly rinsed out a glass, the water leaving streaks across the shiny surface. It felt strange to be behind the bar again. Life seemed very different now from way back when he first bought the Blue Whale. Politics may be changing in the 60s, but so was his personal life. 1/4

From my 45 collection for everyone feeling overwhelmed by the world right now. "Apeman" by the Kinks (1970) But with the over-population and inflation and starvation And the crazy politicians I don't feel safe in this world no more I want to sail away to a distant shore and make like an ape man

One of the things I love about DARK SHADOWS is that people can be confronted by the ghost of a long dead Victorian child who warns them that their long lost cousin is really a vampire, only to say “Silly ghost! Vampires can’t exist!”

The Discourse has shifted into a new phase, we have gone from "Bluesky is dying" to "microblogging is dying" "It's all irrelevant!" Remember, I am into silent movies. How much do you think relevance matters to me? 🤪

Welcome to Pride Month! This month I remind people that the Blue Whale was originally named the Rainbow Bar in the Dark Shadows story bible. Then I giggle (in a manly way). It would be decades before the rainbow became about the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement...but Dark Shadows was from the start.

Call me crazy, but I like to think of the Blue Whale as a romantic bar. Couples meet here, date here, dance here, and even have the occasional fight here. For Valentine's Day I'm stocking the jukebox with the romantic greats of the 60s and even a few oldies from the 50s. Stay tuned to this thread!

Hello Bluesky! There are more stormy days than blue skies over Collinsport but that's why we love it. We're a Dark Shadows roleplay group migrating from the dead bird place. We're all very happy to be here and hope you will join us and find out what lurks in the Shadows of Collinwood.
