Been a the tire place all morning and Bear has been a very good boy. We took a long walk and visited a nearby park for the 90 minutes. They delivered the wrong parts and were are going into hour 3 of waiting…

I’ve been feeding the overripe figs to the chickens and the goats, but last night I finally picked some good ones and made fig clafoutis. Perfect breakfast food-just fruit, milk, eggs, and a tiny bit of flour and lemon zest.

A white ceramic dish filled with custard and figs. I’ll use a different recipe next time, but this is a nice, balanced way to use fresh figs.

One thing that's been bugging me today: people who claim Dolly Parton wasn't political. False. She was very political. Her art and life's work were about interrogating power + amplifying the powerless. You only think she wasn't political because she did this by example, not bullshit slogans.

Dogs are a ton of work. They aren’t easy pets, both in time and emotions invested. The return on that investment is joy. People spend their whole life looking for happiness, and it’s found, we believe, in watching dogs. 🎥 Bernoulli and Beaker playing on their creek walk.

if there is one graphic I could get people who are trying to get folks to take any kinds of political action to look at, it's this one. if the goal is action, and you are cultivating feelings in the left hand column with your messaging, you are shooting yourself in the foot.

When I went to let the animals out this morning, I found an unexpected visitor. He has an injured wing and couldn’t fly, so hopped away from me and got tangled in the brambles. I let the goats out, threw my jacket over the owl, and got him safely into the goat pen.

A great horned owl with large yellow eyes and a sharp beak, stares me down. He has at least one injured wing, so I’ve placed him in the goat pen until I can make a plan to get him to a wildlife rescue. A closer up view of the owl.

Currently no, but I promise you can very easily make them! For 1 24ish oz carton of Goldfish (because why make just one lil bag?) mix .75c neutral oil with .5 c seasoning of choice (adjust up or down depending on seasoning), toss fish in to coat, bake on a sheet tray at 350 for 10 mins.
