For writers worried that they won't be able to "prove" their work isn't Spicy Autocomplete--worry not. You thought about every choice and will be able to talk about those choices easily and clearly. Folks who used the slop machine didn't make choices and won't have anything to say about why

There's E. coli In The Berries It should now be evident to all, even the 77,302,580 Americans who voted for Donald Trump in November of 2024, that the food supply is more dangerous because of Trump and MAGA and MAHA. You can subscribe to FDA's email safety alerts...

Some obvious bullshit in here, given they caved at the 1st sign of discontent from a high-profile transphobes with deep pockets Assuming the part about individual donations is true, though (I haven't checked Companies House/Charity Commision) - a donation boycott might be effective here

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL
Who funds Amnesty International?
The overwhelming majority of our income comes from individuals the world over. These personal donations allow Amnesty International to maintain full independence from all governments, political ideologies, economic interests and religions. We neither seek nor accept any funds for human rights research from governments or political parties and we accept support only from businesses that have been carefully vetted.

This is a pretty good summary by @arstechnica.com EXCEPT for the claim that it's possible, but unlikely, that authors will get more than $3K per work. The original $3K figure assumed there would be 500K works; there were less than that. Based on the fees sought, authors will make slightly more.

Well. One (infinitesimal) step closer to an exceedingly mild consequence for "AI" companies' mass theft of creative labour.

“Companies across tech, entertainment, banking, and many other industries are throttling their employees’ use of AI and pleading with workers to use less powerful models to stop AI costs from spiraling out of control…”

Companies Are Throttling Employees’ AI Use Because It’s Too Expensive

Sources and leaks from Amazon, Adobe, Atlassian, Citi, and more show what is really happening with AI right now: companies are trying to reign in AI use as costs spiral out of control.
