We’re rolling out improvements to trending topics right now! If you don’t already have it, you will in the next day or so. The new system catches more topics, identifies more posts within that topic, and serves them up faster, so you can feel more in tune with what everyone's talking about.

I can't attend the 1st day of the SCBWI Virtual Summer Conference #scbwiSummer26 live BUT I am looking forward to watching recorded sessions! Not too late for people to sign up 👇🏽 www.scbwi.org/events/virtu... You get access to ALL SESSIONS thru Sept. 13th, so can watch at your own pace! #KidLit

Taking the air out of an intimidating new milestone is one of the best moves for a kids book. Some books are great at setting kids up to not be afraid, but others can unwittingly make a new experience more anxiety inducing by portraying it as a formidable thing that a character fears. #kidlitchat

TOPIC: #kidlitchat is 17 this month! Which is . . . REALLY OLD in social media years! How do you use milestones to shape your characters? How do all the "firsts," the annual celebrations, and the rites of passage provide opportunities to define character?

Tons of peoples' Claude chats are exposed on Google. Cryptocurrency keys, API keys, login credentials, legal discussions, more. This happened with ChatGPT last year. And Claude too. There's clearly an ongoing issue with search engines indexing peoples' AI chats www.404media.co/tons-of-peop...

Tons of Peoples’ Claude Chats and Creations are Exposed on Google

Claude users are creating public share links, but probably don't realize that means their chats are now ending up in Google searches where anyone can dig through them.

I think being “concise and direct in a personable way” is the secret sauce for any pitch, but there is no formula for hitting on the personable part. Directness and respecting the agent/editor’s time will go a long way. #kidlitchat

The higher the volume of submissions, the more I’d skip right to the manuscript, and if the MS grabbed me in the 1st 100ish words, I’d circle back to the pitch for more insight into the author. Reading a lot of MS in a short time dials you in on what agents & editors go through. #kidlitchat

I think the best you can do in a pitch is to give some context. When I’ve read hundreds of contest submissions in a short time, any pitch giving insight into the overall intent was helpful in considering the full manuscript. #kidlitchat

TOPIC: When you're pitching your manuscript (in any form - query letter, elevator, pitch contest), how do you communicate how the reader is going to FEEL when they're done, not just tell the story of what happens? What are your tips to finding the way to give a reaction to your pitch-ee? #kidlitchat

The PB Party critique train often leads to friendships and the KidLit 411 FB community is a good place to meet folks. #KidLitChat on Tuesdays at 9 is also a friendly group. I’ve found #KidLit people to be kindly supportive in general. A question posted to someone that resonates can be a good start.
