I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

It's important to note that this is a common ICE tactic. When it's clear that an immigrant in custody is deathly ill, ICE "releases" them from custody—usually when they are hospitalized. It's not a humanitarian approach; it's so the agency doesn't have to claim the person as an in-custody death.

Uber Eats and DoorDash hid tip buttons and set default tips below 10%. As a result, tips for delivery workers fell 79%.  In January, we made these corporations change their apps — and in the past six months, we've put $104 million back in delivery workers' pockets.  This is only the beginning.

Visualization of email received by two addresses, mostly over a 1-decade span. One was subscribed to a Barack Obama fundraising list, another to the Redstate.com mailing list. Over time the Obama list was used to fundraise for other DNC candidates, at very high volume but tightly restricted to official DNC candidates and party organizations. Over a similar period of time the Redstate email list was farmed out to a huge list of direct marketing and loosely affiliated political targeting businesses, either selling products, fundraising for a variety of random conservative causes, pushing investment opportunities, or spreading anti-immigrant sentiment while monetizing via dense digital ad placement.

what the actual fuck is going on here I've used grand perspective for a decade to manage my disk space, and now when I look for it I find this weird AI generated page, with a download link to fosshub, vs the dev sourceforge.
