Working with river communities for just, green laws in Portland, OR. #justice #democracy #climate www.braidedrivercampaign.org

Join us at City Hall to ask City Council to stand up against fossil fuel industry & protect our local democracy. When Zenith Energy sued to force our City Council to curtail public process & immediately approve its franchise transfer – and get a $10 million payout – it declared war on Portlanders.

The cost of a Critical Energy Infrastructure (CEI) Hub disaster could be greater than the Deepwater Horizon spill when approximately 200 million gallons of oil spilled into the Gulf of Mexico. The cost of the cleanup and damages was $65 billion.

Zenith Red Alert: Join me and my kid, Calliope, at City Hall on Thursday, August 6th! A global private equity firm called I Squared wants to buy Zenith Energy, Portland’s most notorious climate villain and the owner of the largest CEI Hub tank farm. 🧵 1 of 2

Two smiling people—one younger person leaning her head on an older woman's shoulder—embrace in front of a large red-and-orange abstract painting, conveying warmth and closeness.

Community advocates are ready to work with City Councilors to improve and pass policies to make the CEI Hub safer, but we don’t know where they are! They are MIA. Who is holding them back and why? I wonder if the culprit is Deputy City Administrator Donnie Oliveira or Mayor Wilson. 🧵 1 of 3

Bold headline "MISSING IN CITY HALL" above a worried cartoon legislative bill wearing a red-and-blue "BILL" button seated on steps, with the caption "CEI HUB POLICY PROPOSALS" below.

During the Zenith hearing at City Council today you’ll get to see one of Portland’s most notorious mercenaries for the fossil fuel industry: Will Rasmussen. In addition to representing the fossil fuel industry in lawsuits against the city, he also sits on the board of the Portland Metro Chamber.

Historically, our city officials let us down repeatedly with Zenith Energy and community confidence is very low in the Mayor or city staff to adequately scrutinize this franchise transfer to i Squared, a $60 billion private equity firm.

Congratulations Portland, we did. We just secured the title for Largest Electric Bicycle Ride and Party. With an official count 1060 people on e-bikes (plus more on pedal bikes or riding on an e-bike) we broke Seattle’s record of 405 e-bikes and made Portland history together.

A sea of people line up on SW Naito Parkway wearing helmets and holding their bikes.A person on an e-bike gives a fist bump as they cross the finish line on SW Naito Pkwy.

Zenith Energy, Portland's notorious climate villain, is trying to quietly sneak out of town by selling its dangerous facility to I Squared Capital, an international private equity firm worth $60 billion in worldwide assets. Sign up to testify to City Council. www.portland.gov/council-cler...

All it will take is leaders who decide to make our streets function well for everyone, not just focus the majority of our transportation money, staff time, and space on people who can afford to own & drive cars. @mayorkwilson.bsky.social @portlandcouncil.bsky.social @multco.bsky.social

👀 We remember the 11 workers who were killed in Longview as we work with Portland City Council to protect people from the tank farms at the CEI Hub. They are ticking time bombs on the river at the foot of Forest Park.

Three major investigations — one federal and two from the state — are still working to determine the cause of the accident and what kind of damages and fines the mill’s owners will likely have to pay.
