Green et al 2 Amendment passes 12-0. Green bringing an amendment to strip out aviation fuel expansion allowance. Doesn’t think there will an increase in aviation fuel demand given War in Iran.

Thanks for the heads up @trryjhrrs.bsky.social. We will look into this.
Was at a neighborhood association meeting to discuss the Dumb Two Cents thing, and the Amazon drone topic came up. I'm interested in what this "meeting with city planners" is about. Like the Waymo thing, I worry there are no city regs directly on point. (paywall) www.bizjournals.com/portland/new...
Sit with us tomorrow in the Portland City Council Chambers 2-5 pm. The Councilors will be discussing the CEI Hub policy proposal and maybe voting. Witness their decisionmaking. Wear red. Bring your knitting. Will they prioritize people over profits for multi-billion dollar fossil fuel villains?
Portlanders are in a marathon hearing advocating for people over profits. #ceihub
*Critical Energy Infrastructure Hub hearing thread* Not going to catch everything because I'm reading a high volume of amendments, but will skeet out some highlights.
There is still time for you to sign up to testify virtually or in-person for the CEI Hub hearing at City Hall. The meeting is from 2 pm to 5 pm today! #SafetyFirst #DrawdownNow www.portland.gov/council-cler...
Fun fact we learned working on the CEI Hub policy at 4:00 am today: The acronym, FAVES, is in Portland's Comprehensive Plan Glossary. It means "Fleet, fully Automated Vehicles that are Electric and Shared."
We are creating a safer, decarbonized Portland! The next step is improving the CEI Hub policy proposal with amendments on Thursday, September 24th in City Hall. Stand up with us against fossil fuel villains like Zenith Energy, I Squared, Shell, Chevron, and BP.
Democracy in action! Let's celebrate our teamwork and smart councilors.

The Zenith Franchise Transfer ordinance just failed at Council! 6-5 because Loretta Smith is gone. No Mayor tiebreaker. Hell yeah Dunphy, Green, Morillo, Koyama Lane, Avalos, and Kanal!!!
Join us at Portland City Hall on September 17th and 24th. It's time to demand safety and corporate accountability from the fossil fuel industry villains like Zenith, ISquared, Chevron, Shell and BP. #CEIHub
If you want another take, here you go. Thanks @braidedriverpdx.bsky.social and @janetrweil.bsky.social

The aging, dangerous CEI Hub tanks threaten the economic prosperity of Portland. That's why we need your support for safety reform and a reduction of the volume of fuels stored there. Ask your councilors how they are going to vote. Photo by Sarah Risser, @henryz_mom.
On the heels of some big structural changes to city government a year and a half ago, a new poll is out showing just 22% of Portland voters feel the city's government is effective. Nearly 40% believe it is not effective.
Survey: Portlanders don’t feel represented by newly representative form of government
When asked if there is currently someone on council who represents them, 31% said yes – a nearly 10% drop from the same question researchers posed to voters last year. And 36% of people said they didn’t feel represented by a Portland councilor – a nearly 10% increase from last year’s data.

As Portland ponders the future of the toxic tank farms that line the North Reach of the Willamette River, the Tomorrow Theater in SE Portland is bringing a new documentary by Barbara Bernstein, Chasing Chimeras: The Lure of Deceptive Climate Solutions, to the big screen on Sunday 9/3 at 7 pm.
Save the date! Wednesday 9/16 at City Hall! Portland City Council will start talking about the CEI Hub policy proposals. Be there! Post your questions and suggestions in the comments. Art by Roger Peet @toosphexy.bsky.social.
❤️ to @councilormorillo.bsky.social and @councilormorillo.bsky.social for introducing the amendment to protect Portlanders from being blown up by an oil train or tank explosions at the CEI Hub.
Much love to the City Councilors who keep trying to reduce the chances of Portlanders being blown up by an oil train or fuel tanks spilling / exploding in an earthquake and causing a world historic disaster. Much opposite-of-love to folks who run a protection racket for the fossil fuel industry.

The hearing on the franchise transfer is this morning. Councilor Green has introduced an amendment that would allow for third-party ‘citizen suit’ enforcement of the franchise agreement for any Portland resident since the Mayor refuses to hold Zenith accountable.

This is an important thread that explains why Portland City Councilors should vote no on the transfer of the Zenith franchise agreement to a multi-billion dollar, global conglomerate. No green lights for billionaires!
Let's talk about accountability and transparency regarding Zenith and ISQ. I Squared Capital (ISQ) is worth about $66B. It takes 15 different entities to run this bullshit... shell games.
You can sign up to testify here: www.portland.gov/council-cler... Right now it’s three corporate hacks and me.

The Zenith Franchise Transfer is on the Sept. 2 City Council agenda. After voting it out of committee before the public even had access to full information, they are putting it on the calendar right after the break. They are really just going to ram it through.
We love this post, thread, and replies. Thank you @trryjhrrs.bsky.social and @marcporis.bsky.social for keeping us informed about city shenanigans.
