New sidewalk was added to the north side of SE Thorburn Street between 73rd and 74th avenues, filling a sidewalk gap that was identified as a high priority in Portland’s Citywide Pedestrian Plan and creating a safer and more accessible route for people walking.

PBOT’s Vegetation Maintenance crews cleared 170 cubic yards of debris (over 20 truckloads of brush!) on SW Broadway Drive last weekend. Under the overgrown brush, crews found signs and a hydrant, mitigating fire risk for the community who lives and travels along this very busy roadway.

Work is resuming on NW/SW Broadway, starting tomorrow, July 23 through early September. Crews will be installing concrete traffic separators along the northbound bike lane and installing planters in the southbound bike lane buffer from NW Glisan to SW Oak streets and SW Yamhill to Clay streets.
PBOT crews cut back and cleared overgrown vegetation along the protected bike lane on SW Hillsdale Beaverton Highway before having a street sweeper come through to sweep up any thing left over. This work is funded by the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF)!

Congratulations Portland, we did. We just secured the title for Largest Electric Bicycle Ride and Party. With an official count 1060 people on e-bikes (plus more on pedal bikes or riding on an e-bike) we broke Seattle’s record of 405 e-bikes and made Portland history together.
