August 3, 2008: France's most recent violent tornado ravaged several communities. Per the ESSL, the F4 had a 10.5-kilometer-long path and was up to 200 meters wide. Hundreds of homes and other buildings were damaged or destroyed in Hautmont. Three people were killed.

A beautiful rotating convective structure passed through northern Finland yesterday. In at least one region it downed a lot of trees: www.tilannehuone.fi/tehtava.php?...
Here is a "don't do that" impressive video of the tornado. www.instagram.com/reel/DbShykb...

Hello everyone, I'm not dead! I was just busy with university exams and the relentless sequence of (extremely) severe storms we've been having in the last two weeks or so. In fact, we've been "spamming" the ESWD with reports for days now, this is the map since 15 July until now, and only for N Italy
The Bordeaux radar is currently providing an impressive view at the wildfire ongoing west of the city:

Just wanted to say how awesome this is. That storm's radar presentation will never leave my head. Inferred debris trajectories here line up well with where we started seeing large housing/household item debris - coming from the east, the swath started ~Streator and lasted several miles to the west
I've finally had the time to work on something I was quite looking forward to: volumetric rendering of the polarimetric RGB. In this example you can see a deep TDS, with a large debris ejection occurring from the storm's top after a violent tornado hit Washington (IL) in November 2013.
No words. Here is a peak at one of our most incredible drone flights around a #tornado to date near Tulliby Lake, AB. This will likely be one of our last intercepts of the season, thank you so much to everyone for following along! #stormchasing #nature #weather
OTD in 2015, Italy's most recent violent tornado. A terrible IF4 that split the difference between the Veneto towns of Dolo and Mira while scouring the ground, mangling cars, debarking trees and (partially) destroying buildings. 72 people were injured, one was killed after getting lofted in his car
OTD in 1965, one of Italy's worst severe weather days ever. Four strong to violent tornadoes caused massive damage from SE Piedmont to eastern Emilia-Romagna, causing 15 deaths and at least 244 additional injuries while destroying homes and vegetation and throwing cars from roads into fields
D'autres photos demain...
Impressive tornadic debris fallout signature over Illinois yesterday. In this RGB cross-section you can nicely follow the lifting of debris from ground to overshooting top, and then the fallout downstream of the updraft.
OTD in 1957, a localized tornado outbreak produced the last confirmed IF5 tornado in Italy, a drillbit that caused massive damage and 6 deaths in the Valle Scuropasso area, in the unusual location of the southern Pavia province hills. About 60 additional people were injured between this and an IF3+
Hello, I'm not dead! Between the first exam of the Summer session and Wednesday's storms, I've been quite busy. Anyway, here are the >250 reports we collected at PRETEMP, many of them present in the ESWD as well. Hailstones got up to 8 cm and winds exceeded 110 km/h. 4 injuries were also counted
🎥 Michele/Tornado in Italia
Update of the update: we found it as it approached the Monfalcone port, here seen by the nearby Panomax webcam! It could have made a (second?) landfall there, but of course we'll never know
Well... that was an interesting signature last night near the Fossalon radar in NE Italy @federicopavan.bsky.social . It tracked mostly over sea, but hit a small section of land as well, so I'm curious whether some damage reports come from there. The circulation wasn't that strong though.
This morning a tornado struck northern Rome, causing damage and at least one minor injury. Video by Daiana Micheli
Some supercells are currently ongoing around tne Lake Garda - Verona and Rovigo areas, with large hail reported in multiple locations
Powerfull supercell with serious tornado potential in Germany currently. Radar-derived hodograph supports tornado potential, more so than model forecasts suggested.
On my way home now, after spending the past 2 weeks on chasing in the US with 2 friends. Saw some great supercells and 2 brief funnels or tornadoes. Some phone pictures while waiting at the airport (with not the best foreground on photo 4...):
Timelapse of the supercell I posted about two days ago as it actually produced a brief tornado (you can see it from here) in the eastern portion of Misinto, Monza-Brianza province

Hi Bram! 0 tornadoes, there was a phase of strong low level rotation, but nothing on the ground. No damage at all actually, aside from hail and rain. If there had been a tornado, we would have known by now, it's a very populated area
I think we just got 1 or 2 tornadoes in northern Italy from this supercell. It had a hook for 2 time intervals, and during the first interval it seemed to have a TDS (in reply).
