A day before the surgery. Whatever you believe in, keep my boy in your thoughts. He's my life, I can't even think about a world where it doesn't go well.

Okay but you need sleep. You literally need it. We don’t know a ton about sleep but we know it’s when your brain processes memory and cleans itself. It’s when your body makes repairs of its tissue. You will literally hallucinate if you don’t get enough of it. We gotta listen to our bodies man

Drugs based on GLP-1, a hormone released by the gut after a meal, began as treatments for diabetes before proving remarkably good at helping people shed weight. Drugmakers are now betting that different peptides could stop you feeling sleepy

See, this is why I think it's VITAL to differentiate the people making the games from the terrible corporate circumstances they're working under. The people actually doing the work are usually the coolest goddamn people you'll ever meet, fully in it for the love of the (video) game.

According to former Arkane veterans, the reason Redfall was able to get its last major update was because they asked Xbox to let them back into the office and finish it after being laid off, and Xbox agreed. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/former-...

Typing up my year (2?)+ long Apothecaria game after nearly losing it all in a luggage debacle. Decided to set it up in a databasey program, as it was getting untennable to track.

One of my best TTRPG experiences I was wildly uncomfortable the whole time (my fault) and it marked a long moment of self reflection that helped me grow. Horror in general is great for increasing that discomfort capacity.

Discomfort is an essential part of growth and wouldn’t it be so embarrassing to be the exact same person thirty years from now, in a totally different world, because you were so averse to discomfort?

Once you start noticing how the incapacity to handle discomfort affects how people live their lives it's actually pretty shocking how it ruins pretty much every conceivable aspect of existence. Interpersonal relationships, romantic and platonic. Career and education opportunities. Your politics Your willingness to go anywhere. The kind of food you eat. The kind of art you expose yourself to and your ability to read it. It's never just one thing, it touches everything, and once you notice it it's like suddenly being able to see germs or something. Just this horrific catastrophe people look at you askance for screaming about. As I grow older and see what became of my friends and peers who could not learn to handle discomfort, the more I'm like. This is a genuine societal issue

Increasing my discomfort tolerance has also been one of the greatest assets to improving my mental health.

One of the hardest things to teach as a therapist is finding the line between discomfort (things we may not like but aren’t hurting) and harm. Especially because a traumatized neurosystem is either over-sensitive and treats everything as harm, or under sensitive and treats harm as nothing.

Good point. This is my newly favorite musician. He runs the Open Mic and Acoustic specials at The Night Owl in Fullerton. He doesn't perform often, but I'm always excited when he does. Names Rod Harrison. Had to cut vid down so it would post.

I have spent 9hrs straight playing Sovereign Tower. It's so addicting. Maybe I just haven't played a lot of stuff lately, but I'm rabid. In Act 3, already excited for a second run.

Rec thread Cont. I Was a Teenage Exocolonist- Of these great games, this is on the lower end, personally. Think of it like finding a 20 on the ground, instead of a hundred dollar bill. 1/2

I'm going mad waiting on a call for my cats surgery so I'm gonna plug the insane games that are on sale right now in the Make Your Choice Sale. I'm going in the order I see them scrolling down the store page.

Me: *Lamenting how, if things were different, this would be a great time for top surgery.* Mom: Why do you even want that done so bad? There are things I don't like about my body, but I don't kill myself. Me:...I....those aren't...ok.
