INCREDIBLE, "IMPOSSIBLE" #Spelunky2 RUN by Nokduro. The level of resourcefulness (and number of close calls) demonstrated here is off the charts. In Low% every bomb, rope, and hit is a monumental event. Nokduro, you are a legend among legends! ✨ Thank you XanaGear for expertly breaking this down!

My biggest video ever, breaking down the insane Low% Cosmic Ocean clear by the Korean streamer Nokduro @mossmouth.bsky.social #spelunky2 #spelunky #speedrun

Cellular automation has been such a fascinating thing to incorporate in my game It's impossible to fully understand the behavior of a configuration because the massive possibility space, but at the same time very viable to develop a "feel" for how to find a configuration with a specific look

Unionize all the way, and unions should work to ensure royalties for all devs. Even better, if you get the chance, create or join a worker co-op, and make it so you don't have to negotiate with any bosses. Negotiate with your fellow workers about the right way to do things instead. #gamedev

United Videogame Workers-CWA@videogameworkers.bsky.social · 4mo ago

Game workers do not receive any residuals/royalties on shipped titles and shipping bonuses are increasingly rare. There's also no guarantee that your name will even be in the credits if you leave before ship, and studios will use this to keep you compliant. All of this can and should change.

We are seriously looking into an alternative place to build a community instead of Discord. Things we want: - Protocol-based, so it's flexible to leave - Super simple to join for users - Community-oriented. Chat rooms, image sharing. Not finding any good ones. Anyone else had any luck? #gamedev

Played the demo of this a while ago, and it is excellent. Highest bar of deduction puzzle quality. Tim knows the genre of detective games intimately, and Ratline shows that knowledge off in a very compelling setting. In this day and age, who is not itching to help get rid of some nazis?

I've written a book! Next Level: Making Games That Make Themselves is the story of procedural generation - the tech behind games like Minecraft and Dwarf Fortress. It's about how it works, the games that use it, and the art and magic behind it. Out May 7th, in bookshops: linktr.ee/next_level 🎲🔮

for so long I was stuck in approaching game design as a processs of invention. switching to a process of exploration and discovery instead has been one of the biggest improvement to my design abilities ever. and also, it's just so much more fun. I'm having more fun with my work than ever.

so this question has come up in conversation recently: obviously, bluesky has features that allow you to disable interactions like replies and quote posts. but is doing so contrary to the spirit of social media? is it antisocial behavior? maybe even unethical? interested to hear everyone's thoughts

We've got a playtest of our incremental game up on Steam! We care a lot about the feedback we get, so it would be great if you could give it a whirl and fill in a form! store.steampowered.com/news/app/436... (if you already played on itch, it's the same build. But you can still fill in the form!)

Epic made provably incorrect statements about the game’s content, refused to provide details supporting their claims, and has not shared their claimed AO IARC certificate, which normally includes a link for the developer to appeal. They do not ‘love that studio’, they have effectively ghosted us

Earlier this week, I spoke briefly Epic about Horses, a game that was approved for release on EGS, then blocked after a re-rating "We love that studio," Epic VP Steve Allison said of Santa Ragione, but maintained that an AO rating was a dealbreaker www.gamefile.news/i/186925441/...
