This is incredible. I am pretty glad our August 4th, 2026 isn't Bradbury's, but it's jarring to think how easily it could have been, or still could be, how we're always on that terrible knife-edge.

I get this, but for a lot of people, life-improving (getting out of debt, not worrying about rent or mortgage for a while) is life changing. A sudden injection of 65000 would change my life.

Yeah, there are a tiny handful of cases where 50k now is better than a 50% shot at $1m. But for the huge majority of people it’s just a straight-up terrible decision. One is life-changing money, the other is moderately life-improving money. People choose the former because they’re irrational.

80 has some jaw-dropping beauty but the Eastern Colorado-Nebraska-Iowa-Illinois and Indiana-Ohio sections are some of the most deathlessly dull stretches of driving I can imagine.

I don't even understand what she's trying to dispute/make up a conspiracy about. That this isn't happening? That the media is exaggerating it? Are they actually going with that?

This administration, supposedly representing the “real” salt of the earth Americans, is filled with people like this who have no idea how Americans actually live. For context, each Taco Bell outlet serves about 900 people PER DAY and there are over 300 Taco Bells in Michigan.
