I have no doubt that she has saved kids' lives.

And some corny adult lives too.

a magical world would be *less* exotic than ours, because magic organizes around the anthropocenter. things that talk or operate on contracts are interesting bc theyre like us. flying and glowing are normal on non-human scales. a more exotic world would be even less parseable than ours (more boring)

if u want to build an electromagnet i did math to find the length of wire of each gauge that provides enough resistance to keep the wire from overheating (specifically to keep it at ampacity at 60C). data from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America... and my processed data here pastebin.com/DQJey1WA

A plot depicting the length of copper wire required to provide enough resistance to not exceed its current capacity given a 1.5 volt supply and no load on the circuit. The plot starts at the largest gauge, 0000, then 000, 00, 0, 1, 2, and then proceeds counting up. The length, in feet, starts at a little less than 160 for 0000, followed by less than 150 for 000, and continues decreasing steadily. At gauge 1 it's about 110 feet, at gauge 10 it's about 50 feet, and it continues down until gauge 18, about 25 feet, after which gauge 20 actually shows an increase in the length required because of the decreased current capacity, to about 30 feet. The length actually stays at around 30 feet up until gauge 34, after which there is no data.

made some v v silly bunny and doggy crossover fanart and @fluffliestclouds.bsky.social liked it so i thought id post it!! pls pls check out bunny and doggy (and bear and his mom!) on her profile, i think abt them alot so my brain generated this btw thisd be in ~2014, when bunny and doggy were teens

A black and white ink drawing rendered with thin, harsh lines which are layered for the thicker outlines. A caption in Comic Sans reads "Makima and Reigen Arataka compete to see who can get the most use out of Bunny and Doggy". Makima is the antagonist of Chainsaw Man and Reigen is the deuteragonist of Mob Psycho 100 and both are manipulative anime mentor figures, while Bunny and Doggy are the protagonists of the comic Bunny and Doggy and they're in a complex, grounded, raw, sometimes mutually harmful relationship. They are utterly unprepared for the anime silliness, while Reigen is utterly unprepared for how intense Bunny and Doggy are (Makima is totally prepared). Here, Makima, drawn in her slacks and white button-up with realistic proportions, leans toward Bunny, and tilts Bunny's chin up with a finger, smiling in a calmly sinister way. But Bunny, drawn in her cartoony style with long rabbit ears and a big lashed eye peaking out from her bangs, leans away and looks, annoyed and resentful, back at Doggy and Reigen, who are walking in the opposite direction. Doggy is drawn in the same cartoony style as Bunny, in her black tee over her striped long sleeve and wide pants atop big sneakers, and looks up at Reigen, fucking bewildered. Reigen, drawn in the moderately cartoony Mob Psycho 100 style, gestures wildly as he walks, not even looking at Doggy. He's probably talking about how it's wrong to take advantage of vulnerable teenagers.

Makima literally calls the main character in Chainsaw Man "puppy" but I have a case for why Bunny would be more likely to be taken under Makima's wing than Reigen's. Makima manipulates people by providing for basic needs, and while neither Bunny nor Doggy are in great places in their teens, their needs are more complex than just food and a place to stay... but clearly Bunny does sometimes need a place to stay. Makima would find out about Bunny's occasional violence and start salivating. (continued...)

(...continued from previous) Meanwhile, Reigen would find Doggy's passive side easy to take advantage of in a way he wouldn't with Bunny. Reigen hates himself in a way that Makima doesn't... would Bunny and Doggy recognize that behind his eyes? Regardless I think they'd find Reigen deeply pathetic and maybe that's actually a point in the favor of Bunny going with him rather than Doggy. But fuck, giving Doggy that bewildered expression made me laugh out loud.

Anyway, this one's an ink and marker drawing. The ink is in thin, harsh lines which are layered for the thicker outlines. The girls are fighting... Bunny looks kind of like Chainsaw Man, except she has a blender for a head instead of a chainsaw, and she has two-foot-wide razor blades instead of arm chainsaws. Also she's wearing the same outfit from the previous image, a coat over a patterned sweater, though she's rolled up her sleeves. Razor Bunny leaps towards Doggy with blood-stained shoes. Surrounded by red, she opens her long-toothed maw, ears streaming behind her, as she reaches toward Doggy, blood streaking back from her razor. Doggy, for her part, also reaches toward Bunny, her arm surrounded by Mob Psycho 100 rainbow psychic energy. ???% Doggy is dressed in the same clothes as before, but this time they blow in the psychokinetic wind along with her hair and tail. A black cloud of spirals and stars billows behind her. I like to think this is one of those situations where they fight for a bit and then they team up against someone else. Let them have a power fantasy!

the last in the trilogy

In the second panel, an enby in a black tank smiles and shoots dual finger guns as they exit the scene. Foreigner, a short young man with pointy ears and a bad mustache, and Local, a large young woman with straight black hair and a hoodie, also fire finger guns back at them, smiling. Foreigner thinks, "Fuuuuuck," while Local thinks, "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" After the enby has gotten far enough away, Local sinks her head down, lets her eyes unfocus, and blushes, saying, "Shit fuck fucking god damn shit." Foreigner is nearly crying, his blood-filled ears dumping heat into the air. He waves his hands about Local's shoulder in a calm down gesture as he says, "Shut it just shut it. It's fine it's fine it's fine." Local replies, "What's even happening." They both stare off into the middle distance. Foreigner laments, "Oh lord you made the gun gesture, why," though when he says "you" he thinks "I". Local, ignoring him, says, "If ze ever touched me I'd liquify." Foreigner, ears still steaming, asks, "You have this class for how much longer?" Long clouds streak the orange sky above the parking lot where they stand. Local replies, "If I had another breakdown in front of my academic advisor he'd probably let me drop."

uh oh. theyre back.

In the second panel, a young man with good cartoon hair and a button-up with the top two buttons undone waves goodbye over his shoulder at Foreigner, a short young man with pointy ears and a bad mustache, and Local, a large young woman with straight black hair and a hoodie. Local waves back, cringing, and says, "...Okay. I think that went poorly." Local, also cringing, replies, "Yeah." They stand behind a table with a big book and a laptop on it in front of a brick wall. Foreigner's cringe grows angry as he says, "It was going so well...I didn't say anything untrue! I think? I didn't say anything wrong?" Local, also looking frustrated, says, "Sometimes the way I am is enough to make someone not want to spend time with me. It's impossible to control." Foreigner leans forward and looks up at Local accusingly, asserting, "No, no, that's absolving yourself of responsibility. You can always change your behavior." Local turns away and rolls her eyes, smiling resentfully, and replies, "I can't. That's hyperindividualism."

Page 2 of "Local and Foreigner Talk to a Boy???". Foreigner, exasperated, holds his fingers splayed in front of him and says, "Clearly people can change their behavior." Local turns to look right at Foreigner from above and replies, "I'm saying it's impossible to control. Things just happen." Foreigner turns his head away, hunches, and clenches his fingers, asserting, "But you still have a responsibility to be a good person! You have to be accountable!" Local, her attention now detached from Foreigner, looks away and grows sad, saying, "And that's the worst thing, I don't want to be accountable. I guess I..." Foreigner has totally ceased paying attention to Local, musing with a desperate whimsy, "I just don't know what I did, yet. I need to figure it out and practice. I need the ability to disappear until I can figure it out." Local hunches below Foreigner's height and covers her face with her hand, whinging, "All I do is disappear. Other people make me disappear, I make myself disappear, I want to disappear." Local flips to the opposite end of the spectrum, rearing back and shouting furiously, "Fuck, jesus, is this all it takes? An awkward conversation with a guy I just met and don't even like that much?" Foreigner looks over his shoulder and, scared, says, "Shush, shut it! Someone might--" Foreigner spots someone and yells, "Shit! Hide!"

Page 3 of "Local and Foreigner Talk to a Boy???". The titular boy, wearing a backpack, enters the scene through one of two adjacent doors with large windows and bars for pushing them open. Surrounding them is a square of windows creating a large, windowed frame, through which you can see a university hallway. The boby calls out, "Fern? Lucy?" He bends and looks under a table, his pants showing off his butt, muttering, "My textbook... uh, I think I forgot..." The view is framed by the support and underside of another table. The boy looks over his shoulder, right at the viewer, and says, "Uh, it, somewhere..." He sees the textbook on top of a table, below which Local and Foreigner sit, facing away from him. Foreigner is silently panicking while Local seems to have completely given up on the world.

The final page of "Local and Foreigner Talk to a Boy???". The boy, surprised, says, "Oh! Hey... L--uh..." Foreigner turns jagged and Local starts to melt. They still don't look at him. The boy thinks, "...fuck, I don't need it that badly," as he turns and walks back out the door. Foreigner has turned into a zig zag and Local is a puddle. The door shuts.

In the second panel you see a young woman smiling and waving goodbye to two other young people in front of a classroom door. Foreigner, the short one with pointy ears and an awful mustache, asks, grinning, "Do you think she likes me?" Local, the tall one with long, straight black hair that covers her ears, replies, "What?" as she waves back. Foreigner responds, shoulders now up, his grin morphing into a cringe, "Oh, god, you're right, she hates me." Local says, still smiling but looking away, "No, she hates me." "But, we had such a good conversation..." "It was not a good conversation. I was weird and overshared." Foreigner looks up and puts his hand to his chin. "If she hates me so much, why did she seem so happy when she was talking to me?" Local rolls her eyes and says, "She was talking to me, and she was faking it. I'm a stranger, it's easier to pretend to be happy than disappoint me." She finishes, accusingly, "That's what you do."

Page 2 of "Local and Foreigner Talk to a Girl??". Foreigner protests, "I don't do that with you!" Then he looks away, eyes narrowed, to say, "Oh. Right. You're no stranger." He looks at Local out of the corner of his eyes to ask, "...well maybe she wasn't happy but what if she still wants to make it with me?" Local mugs the camera and replies, "Mm." Foreigner muses, "You can want to make it with a stranger... She's seen me..." He bites his lip and becomes distressed and says, "Agh, but she's seen me," putting emphasis on the "me". He brings his clenched hands up to his temples as he mewls, terrified, "She's seen me!!" Local looks down on him to ask, worried, "Do you even find her attractive?" Foreigner looks ashamed and rubs the tips of his pointing index fingers together, replying, "Well, she's not, should I say, ideal, but, uh... I still would. That is, if she wanted to, I'd want to..."

Page 3 of "Local and Foreigner Talk to a Girl??". Foreigner asks, worried, "Could someone want to fuck me?" He only grows more scared as the background disappears behind him. He wonders, "Could someone even like me?" Local is no longer tethered to the floor, though her hair hangs the normal way. She remarks, with a flattened affect, "I don't think anyone has ever liked me the first time they talked to me. Even when I try to fake being someone likeable, despite everything, it's still me." The disassociating background shows the first four notes of Megalovania. Foreigner, barely in the panel, angrily replies, "But you don't know." His face warps as he says, "You think no one's ever liked you but you don't know." Local, growing, still neutral, says, "I can tell." The background grows more jagged and melts. Foreigner says, "But you can't tell for certain." He holds his hands up, mouth huge, yelling, "You'll never know! You just have to be prepared for anything!" Local, now several feet taller than Foreigner, puts a hand to her mouth and, blank-faced, says, "That sounds like a good way to go crazy."

The final page of "Local and Foreigner Talk to a Girl??". Local and Foreigner shut up, snap back to their normal proportions, and look at each other in a face-searing moment of self-awareness.

local & foreigner commit suicide (non-canon, bc im a coward) my ocs are back, to contemplate that most bewitching escape method... (cw suicide) 1/2

A four panel page of a black and white comic. Panel 1 is a title card: "Local and Foreigner Commit Suicide (non canon)", with a crying emoji and a poop emoji around the word "suicide". In Panel 2 is Local, a woman with straight black hair. She is deeply hunched, with a hand in front of her mouth gripping her face, hard. A caption reads, "CSC 131 Lecture. Usually pretty tolerable." Other students seem to be watching the lecturer or typing on their computers. She thinks, "fuck fuck fuck" over and over again. In panel 3 she thinks, "fuck fuck fuck. welp. fuck fuck" as she leans over to rummage through her backpack. In panel 4 she holds a craft knife, specifically an "X Acto Craft Knife (stored loose in bag)" according to a caption. Local thinks, "fuck you fuck you fuck you."

The second page. Local thinks, "If you want to hurt yourself, cut across the vein. If you want to kill yourself, cut along the vein," emphasizing "kill" and "along". She's rolled her sleeves up so she can push the craft knife into her inner left arm, close to the elbow. The wound immediately bleeds. Local then pulls the blade down in an arc, cutting her entire radial artery in one clean stroke. A ragged sheet of blood leaps from the wound to follow the knife. It makes a bad sound. Local says, out loud, "Ow." Local switches hands and does the same thing on her right arm, this time arcing up to cast another flat gout of blood. It makes another bad sound. Local says, "Ow." Finally, Local gets up, abandoning her backpack at her seat, and begins to walk out of the classroom, trailing puddles of blood. She thinks, "Now to find a stream to float away in." No one else seems to have noticed her. Blood escapes from her arm in big drops.

On the third page, the scene changes. A caption reads, "4:41 PM on what was, objectively, a pretty good day. Foreigner, a man with pointy ears and an awful mustache, lies on his back on a carpet, his head near the corner of a couch. He opens his mouth wide and says "Ahh" so that he can push the barrel of a revolver to the roof of his mouth. You can't see it fire, but you can see the blood splash up onto the couch and hear the enormous "Pop" sound the gun makes. However, Foreigner sits up, still holding his now smoking gun. The back of his head has partially shattered, with skull fragments and brain matter flowering out like plant stamens.

The fourth page. Foreigner once again shoots himself in the head, ejecting a symmetric flash and another incredible "Pop" along with the bullet. It jerks Foreigner's head back as it bursts through the opposite temple with ejecta of blood, brain matter, and bone. Another gore flower is left on Foreigner's now frustrated face, which glares at the gun. Foreigner fires again and again, "Pop pop pop," creating flashes of light and spattering parts of his head. A messy spray of blood covers the entire back of the couch, and pieces of skull sit on the seat cushions. Little dots of gore are scattered over Foreigner's collar. He hunches and says, "Dag nabbit." The top half of his head is gone, nose up.

Finally, they get out, "Help--" when Jian, a skinny young man with shaggy hair in a big t-shirt, slams the door open, letting light into the dark. He says, "Leo, come on, this is the fourth time and I have work in the morning." Panel 2: Jian's eyes are puffy from lack of sleep as he shouts, "Mom and Dad aren't here! I looked under the bed! I looked in the closet! Do I have to look again?!" Leo, a boy with big ears in polka dot pajamas, cowers in his bed with fear on his face. He interrupts, "No!" He continues, stuttering, "No, sorry, sorry, Jian. You're right. I'll be brave." Panel 3: Five white shapes float in the darkness above the open doorway, where Jian's whole affect changes. He is no longer angry, just tired, grabbing the door frame for support, and if anything taken aback by Leo's compliance. He says, "...okay. Great." He pauses. "Sorry." He continues, "Just... I'm right down the hall. But we both need to sleep, okay? Okay, Leo?" Leo stutters once more, "Okay. Good night." Panel 4: the five white shapes are revealed to be the ragged nails on an enormous hand, palm easily larger than Jian's whole torso, menacing Jian from over the door. The wrist and arm extend out of sight into the darkness. Jian says, "Good night," turning away and beginning to close the door. Just on the other side, inside the room, is a horrific face. Two eyes, feet wide, glow in the dark. It smiles too wide and has warped teeth, its upper lip curled up to reveal its gums. Using another enormous hand, it holds a finger up in front of its face. It is telling Leo to be quiet.

ghost town (2/2) something will wait behind your headstone. what is it? what is it? #comics #art #horror #sorta

A black and white comic, the last page of Ghost Town. Al, a squat, cartoony person with a skull mask on, thinks, "I remember the day we buried her." Rickety, protuberant spires of ghost houses tower over them as they walk through the graveyard. A tear rolls down their mask. "The service was packed. There weren't enough pews." Between spires, one ghost stands alone, behind a headstone that says "Sara Pacheco. 1951 to 2017." The house is two and a half stories and asymmetric, with a front porch that wraps around one side. Al thinks, "People in the back were willing to stand, two layers deep." The lone house lights up the whole graveyard. Al thinks, "Huh." On the front porch are a few deck chairs neatly arranged around a table. On the side porch is a hanging bench, which can swing when pushed. Al thinks, slowly, "This was her house." Al ascends the staircase onto the porch, weeping. They reach for the doorknob. This time, they are able to grab it and open the door. They step into their grandmother's dead house. The door closes.

A six panel, black and white comic. A caption reads, "I'm visiting my grandmother's hometown in Kansas." Al, a squat, cartoony, agender person with light gray skin and black hair, gets some snacks at a gas station. They wear a black mask with a white skull pattern. A tear is drawn below the left eye. The gas station attendant, a balding white man, also wears a black mask with a face pattern. As he counts Al's cash he says, "Watch out for the night lights." Al says, "Huh?" The man replies, "Some houses glow at night. I don't know why." Al thinks, "Weird. Who knows? Maybe he's on something. I'm not sure why I came. She died in 2017." Al walks by an abandoned storefront with boarded up windows. Al thinks, "The rest of the Pacheco family live over in Parsons. The elementary school closed in 2021." Al walks by a house with a front yard covered with scattered, broken furniture and personal belongings. Al thinks, "She would've hated that." Al walks by a house that's missing part of its roof, beams visible. The porch and yard are a mess of plywood. Al thinks, "I want to stay for the evening, anyway. I'm going to sit by the railroad and watch the stars come out, so much easier to see." So Al leans against a concrete wall right by the tracks. They notice something strange: in the distance, between two prefabricated houses, something is glowing brightly.

Between two prefabricated houses, something glows. Al approaches to find that sitting between the two prefabs is what looks like a shed, so bright as to be indistinct. In the dusk it casts light on the grass and trees around it. Al thinks to themself, "Okay. Right. 'Night lights.'" They look left and right, then approach. They think, "Okay. Actually, I might have heard of this. If it..." They reach toward the handle of the shed door, which casts a harsh glow on their hand and sleeve. They attempt to close their hand on the handle. But the handle shifts away from their fist, multiplying, evading, and the light twists, and the whole shed bends as if recoiling. Al themself is shocked, leaning back, as the shed slides away from them across the grass.

Al regards a wrecked garden shed, with a glowing ghost shed behind it. Al thinks, "So this is the ghost of a house. Not a haunted house. That's a ghost in a house. This is a house that died, splitting itself into a spirit and a corpse." Al runs through a dark neighborhood in the growing dim. "Humans are polluting the collective unconscious. Unsustainable social construction, generative AI, epistemological obstacles..." They encounter a ghost house, looking just like its corpse but glowing, ectoplasm bleeding upwards. Al thinks, "Endemic fauna like ghosts are being pushed out onto the material plane." The house warps, reaching up, shuffling its windows and doors around. "Well. 'Ghosts'. "But there are ghosts of trees, ghosts of libraries... In Appalachia, there's a ghost of a mountain that was destroyed by mining." A reflection of light grows on their mask. "I've never seen a ghost before. This is..."

Al watches a road surrounded by ghosts. One has projected a door onto the ground in front of it. Another stretches up, curving. Another manipulates its gutters like tentacles. Yet another segments into cubes which individually start to twist and rotate into one another, intersecting. The stretching one leaves the ground entirely as Al thinks, "Is this all that's left?" The stretched house arcs over the road and towards the tentacled house, whose gutters reach out. They collide, sprouting myriad structures from their intersection. The gutters branch, elements curve and grow corners, a porch reflects across itself, and doors locate themselves incorrectly. The houses pull apart again, the stretched one floating off, as Al puts a hand on their face and thinks, "They make the sound of bricks hit with a finger." The ghosts lean over Al as they clutch at their face with both hands and think, "There are ghosts of places but no ghosts of people." Al walks up a hill to a graveyard, where a light is shining. "I'm going to her grave."
