Depicting Jewish people with horns is a centuries-old, dehumanizing, antisemitic trope. Democratic Gov nominee Phil Weiser is outspoken about his mother’s birth in a Nazi concentration camp, his family members killed in the Holocaust, and the threat posed by antisemitism today.
Correct, the point isn’t to make them feel shame. The point is to reinforce the group norms.
They may be shameless, but shunning, booing and not accepting them into public spaces is the correct response.
The ultimate goal is to remove women from public life entirely. Out of the military, out of sports, out of the workplace, out of the voting booth, and out of school. Being legally allowed to violate little girls in the process is just a bonus, because pedophilia is inextricable from misogyny.
An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play
They think they're being clever eugenicists by saying that people with "underlying health issues" don't matter, but >75% of U.S. adults have a chronic condition (including 60% of age 18–34). So what they're really saying is "nobody matters, it's okay if everybody dies from inadequate regulation."
Breaking News: Two deaths in Michigan have been linked to cyclospora. Both people who had the parasite also had underlying health issues.

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

Behind every link is one of two possible truths, and we must take each out as the moment demands: "For this, the internet was created" "This is why we're all about to be dust and ashes."
Used to work for a REIT that owned data centers across the country. Almost every employee of the company worked at HQ in CO, while the centers themselves had maaaybe a few dozen in total on-site headcount. They weren't on the higher end of payroll and most had little to no decision making authority.
As I've said before: What high-paying long-term jobs do they pretend exist here? A data center isn't a place where execs come and do Big Deals. Go to the server room at your workplace; are there lots of rich people in there spending money?

The coronavirus crisis is overwhelming New York’s system for burying the dead.

Among the worst ideas floating around is that "the free market" will naturally achieve desirable results for society. No, it won't, not even in theory, much less in practice. Markets don't optimize "good for society" unless you make them.
Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.
Yes! Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg @theradr.bsky.social also posts about this . . .
Begging y’all to post somewhere besides substack. On my KNEES.

If Andy Beshear does not push this to a conclusion that either has him appointing McConnell's replacement, or McConnell reappearing, Beshear will be out of Democratic politics. We need rabble-rousers, not the same quiet, proper Dems who keep losing.
This feels grimly accurate. I think for most people, engagement with the party feels like getting on Temu’s mailing list: Just a neverending stream of spam asking for cash and no other meaningful call to be part of anything that might generate any sense of identity or community.
There's nothing to "join" in the Democratic Party. It's a brand with products I spend my vote on once a year at the democracy store. Most people's experience of it is an endless stream of texts that read like scams, their reward for donating or signing a petition. No wonder DSA is growing
“This”, let us specify, means murdering untold number of innocent souls from the air—bombing children, families, human beings who matter— And destroying both the places where real people live now and millennia of irretrievable culture.
As unpopular as the Iran war is, the coverage still doesn't do justice to the fact that they just could have not done any of this. There was literally no reason beyond general bloodthirstiness and incompetence.
REMINDER that if you have ANY REASON not to fast on Tisha B'Av, Yom Kippur or any other fast day, your reason is good enough and that mental health is health (and that if you are planning to fast, for pete's sake HYDRATE NOW) (And if you're not planning to fast, for pete's sake HYDRATE NOW)

I just saw a meme that said “get in losers, we’re reclaiming the emdash”. People. PEOPLE. Where are your STANDARDS? It CLEARLY should be “get in, losers — we’re reclaiming the em dash.”
*looks at Bush Jr* *looks at Reagan* At least in my lifetime, we do not have a great track record on learning this lesson.
Ok American voters, now that you’re experiencing firsthand what happens when we put the dumbest, most ordinary, inexperienced people in charge of the federal government, can y’all pay attention, learn the lesson… and NEVER DO THIS AGAIN?

I don’t get why so many of you think our president is in mental decline, all he’s doing is imposing new taxes on you, because he thinks he’s punishing Canada, for being on fire
every time you write overly defensively you should remember that you are pursuing a strategy of writing careful sentences specifically for people who demonstrably either won't or can't read them
there is literally no amount of caveats or careful wording that will protect you from stupidity or bad faith, so you might as well say things straightforwardly and strongly to begin with.
hey so maybe congress should have something in the employee handbook about how many no-call no-shows before they determine that you've abandoned your job, mail you your last check, and look for a new hire.
