I travel the quiet dirt roads with a camera on my lap. Otherwise, I'd miss shots like this. An orange chat, taken from the car, just south of Hammond. (BTW, from Bruce to Willowie - a distance of about 40 km - I saw zero other vehicles. Bliss.) #birdsseenin2026
Fernbird / mātātā (Poodytes punctatus) midway between Ration Point and Motukaraka, Pāuatahanui. I love the brownish red background in this area, caused by the shrubby bushes and orangey grasses the fernbirds like to live in. #nzbirds #fernbird #birds #pāuatahanui #BirdsSeenIn2026 #NewZealand

My good deed for the day was to help this Old Lady over the road (it had landed on the pavement next to the busy A167). Durham, VC66. #TeamMoth @teesbirds.bsky.social
Definitely in the record shot category but the Montague's Harrier spotted by @coombehillbirding.bsky.social (🏆) @wwtsightings.bsky.social Slimbridge is a UK lifer for me so am pleased to have captured any shot. Caught up with it from the canal towpath at Splatt Flashes. #GlosBirds #BirdsSeenIn2026

😍 I totally lucked out this morning hanging out with the Plover chicks when, all of a sudden, a Kingfisher perched on one of the nearby rocks. It always pays to be in position before the #birds get there. Right place right time 🍀 #BirdsSeenIn2026 🇩🇪 #nature #naturephotography #photography

Tiny body, massive attitude! Pocket-sized Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl in #CostaRica. Only 6 inches tall and 70 grams, but that fierce look & piercing eyes prove s/he is mighty. They hunt during the day so we get the opportunity to see that intense gaze. #birds #owls #birdsseenin2026 #wildlife #nikon #z8
