I’ve avoided a lot of the Platner discourse because it’s a toxic tarpit, but I think the notion that the lesson here is primarily about either one political faction or something essential about “unvetted” newcomers, sits in some considerable tension with the entire Eric Swalwell experience.

i'm not saying the democrats wanted to enable this outcome. but i am saying if the democrats DID want to enable this outcome, you'd be hard pressed to find a single choice they would've made differently. they may say otherwise, but only their actions tell the truth.

If the goal here was to stop nuclear proliferation, it already has failed: if I was not on friendly terms with the US or their proxies right now and did not currently possess nuclear weapons, I would be moving as fast as possible to develop or acquire them
