Witnesses to Lorenzo Salgado Araujo’s killing dispute DHS’s claim that his van rammed an ICE vehicle. They say the ICE agent opened fire immediately after exiting his vehicle and that Araujo never steered toward him. Surveillance footage prior to the killing shows ICE ramming Araujo’s van.

The victim was a construction worker, a father of three US citizens, had lived in the US for 35 years and was applying for a work permit. He panicked and tried to flee when he mistook masked, armed ICE agents for thieves.
