The right to vote should also be free of stumbling blocks. Kudos to Brookline's Town Clerk for objecting to a Select Board meeting scheduled on Primary Day. (The meeting's been rescheduled, but stay tuned for Town Meeting action to prevent public meetings on future election days.)

In May 2014, the Brookline Town Meeting passed a PAX-led warrant article calling on the state's Pension Reserves Investment Management (PRIM) Board to divest its direct holdings in fossil fuel companies. As usual, ahead of the curve.

This is outrageous. A free press cannot function under constant threats and retaliation from the government. Reporters must be free to hold those in power accountable — without fear of retribution. The assault on the free press must end!

In November, in an as yet unnumbered ballot question, Massachusetts voters will be asked to keep or repeal an important gun safety law. Brookline PAX is urging a YES vote, to keep the law in place. (A No vote is a vote to repeal.)

Thank you to Select Board member Bernard Greene for his comment at the SB's last meeting, to the effect that the Saturday standouts of PAX and its allies are having an effect. ICE is apparently paying attention to the resistance!
