Finally got around to seeing The Red Shoes. Beautiful film that lives up to the hype, but both my real life and being a reader and writer from Romancelandia still had me going, "She really COULD have had both love and a career! Why are these dudes being so ridiculous about it?"

So with Dem house and senate control, is there a way to codify reproductive rights into federal law? Asking for all US AFABs and especially for those of us in Idaho with it looking like our ballot measure will fail.

You know, after seeing how many chonky, fluffy cats there are in the world, I'd kinda love to see a plus-sized Catwoman. The outcry would be terrible and obnoxious, but I feel like it could work if it was back to the vibe of the Batman TV show in Eartha Kitt's Catwoman era.

I mostly agree with this, but with the caveat that the films and shows with rape scenes that are designed to titillate serve no one but rapey men and those ones are best eliminated from the screen. But a film that handled a rape scene and other issues other male-centered films fail at was The Crow.

we're conditioned not to talk about rape because this is the most advantageous outcome for rapists, who occupy the highest rungs of our hierarchy

When you say something is “cringe,” you are telling us you are afraid of looking silly or being ridiculed for liking something. Be brave. Love what you love. Be loud about it. We are all going to die someday and worrying about “cringe” is a waste of precious time.

I am a VERY newly annointed single mum and the circumstances leading to this newfound status have been really ugly - deeply unpleasant, upsetting and destabilising. If you've ever enjoyed my books, blu-ray work or horror documentaries, now is the time to help a sister out!

My 2026 has been a divorce-shaped Stygian nightmare of housing insecurity, drifting between Airbnbs, couchsurfing + housesitting. But the goddess just blessed me with my own tiny apartment! I need to move/furnish it for myself + kid almost from scratch: a humble call for help if you can to do so!

In my movie club, for the final weekend of Pride Month, I will be hosting Nightmare on Elm Street 2, To Wong Foo, and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which I actually haven't seen yet and I'm really excited!
