I just keep coming back to this fundamental mismatch: Some people think the point is Content, just more Content, endless Content to be mindlessly swiped through and consumed on 2x speed. Rather than art, creation, emotion, and shared humanity.

So let me understand the headlines today. Built AI -> AI over taxes the grid Overtaxed grid —> big security concern Big security concern -> use AI to fix grid?? Which would require more energy?? And would create more security issues because AI is sketchy?? Huh??

sorry, but torturing the omelas kid is just a smart move, polling-wise. i personally wish there wasn't a kid in the omelas hole--of course i do!--but let's not get distracted by purity tests, here.

Trump cut down cherry trees for which Washington DC is famous for one of his tacky golf courses. He’s planning to sell some of Yosemite Park to a private developer. He’s destroyed the East Wing. He’s threatened to demolish the Kennedy Center. That vulgar slob has no respect for beauty.

Took my toddler to the park twice in one week and have been in pain for two days straight. Disability, especially invisible disability, is so heavy on the soul. I want to run and climb and play with my baby and still be able to come home and make dinner without buckling from pain.

Remember when you were like 9 and learned about climate change and how bad it would look like in the 2020’s (the future which felt like a billion years away) if we didn’t do anything to change things and you told your family and they laughed and said that’s not real? No? Just me?

Relentless heat and a dearth of rain are having a punishing effect on some of Europe’s most vital rivers. The waterways have tumbled to record lows in places, in a crisis so severe it can be seen from space. https://cnn.it/3TXXwqu

Teaching kids AI literacy - what it is, how it actually works, what the tradeoffs are in using it - would be a good thing. But that's not what's being proposed, they're trying to get it into grade schools to create AI dependency

This is one of the biggest churches in Oregon. We are talking thousands of people attending every week, up to a thousand PER service and multiple services. Last I heard their numbers were like 5k+. And streamed online. And this isn’t rural either, people attend from all over Portland metro.

Pastor Brett Meador of Athey Creek Church in West Linn, OR did another "Prophecy Update" on Friday. He again taught that the Jews are dead zombies right now, until they reject Judaism and convert to Brett's conservative evangelical Christianity. These are anti-Jewish teachings.

The NYT has a lot of problems and one of them is that they won’t accept my damn spelling bee answers that are, in fact, words. If you’ll accept SLANG words why won’t you accept words like Caracal (a wild cat) or Cavitation (rapid forming of bubbles in a liquid). This is my stupid hill to die on.

they are trying to kill every trans kid in America when these rules actually come out, they will be open for public comment and all of us need to flood submissions, call our reps, make noise, everything including the kitchen sink unconscionable evil

The White House plans to bar hospitals that treat transgender children and youth from getting any Medicare and Medicaid payments. The move would affect trans youth who have private insurance, too. n.pr/4qFa1mY
