In other Michigan news, the state looks set to elect it's first transgender lawmaker. Joanna Whaley won her Democratic primary and will compete in November for a state house seat, beating a primary opponent who tried and failed to disqualify her for not running under her deadname

Both Stevens and McMorrow tried desperately to paint al Sayed as some invading other when he was born in Detroit's western suburbs (same town as Stevens) and is as Michigan as coneys, Faygo, and the Tigers. Typical dem consultant Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism.

Not that I need any extra incentive to vote for El-Sayed, since I've voted for him every other time he's been on a ballot, but if he came over to my house, held me in his big, strong arms and told me everything would be okay that'd really seal the deal, you know?

Fascists aren't gay. Fascism frames sexuality as an exercise of power, not attraction. They don't care about gender; they hate queers because we engage in consensual activity among equals rather than engaging in predation and humiliation rituals. None of this is hard to understand if you try.
