emergency Soad, a nurse from Gaza, saved many lives through her volunteer work. She lost her family and home and continues to struggle to care for her son Omar, the sole survivor of the genocide Omar's condition is critical; he needs constant care and is losing weight rapidly❤️‍🩹 tinyurl.com/4rdnwyzx

Two photos side by side. In the left one, little Omar is sitting in a bucket of water as Suad feeds him crackers. In the right one, she is in a hospital room, wearing head-to-toe PPE as she takes a pair of surgical scissors off a table.

You know that thing where people tell you, don't talk about what you're working on or new workout plans, because it'll feel the same as actually doing it? Vibecoding gives a sense of productivity indistinguishable to you from actually *being* productive.

Fascists aren't gay. Fascism frames sexuality as an exercise of power, not attraction. They don't care about gender; they hate queers because we engage in consensual activity among equals rather than engaging in predation and humiliation rituals. None of this is hard to understand if you try.

This sums up the entire moral panic about trans children. The so-called ‘concerns’ from government, its agencies, and anti trans organisations and individuals, is nothing more than political ‘pearl clutching’. They simply do not want trans children to exist, and have agency over their own lives.

Thirty-one councillors in Cornwall looked at this motion and said no. Some of the opposition was procedural: the safeguard already exists, so the motion does nothing useful. But the more substantive argument, the one made by Clir Garrigan and CIr Ewert, was moral: you do not single out one category of child for political override on medical decisions without a reason that applies equally elsewhere. Gender identity is not that reason.

Cornwall Council voted down a motion to block looked-after children from a puberty blocker trial. The opposition put it perfectly. My take is on the site: https://www.helenwebberley.com/news/cornwall-council-rejects-puberty-blocker-trial-motion?utm_source=bluesky&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=news&

To make my book a bestseller I only need 1 or 2 thousand of you to click a few buttons. So simple and fun! Or, you know, for one of you to click a few buttons 1 or 2 thousand times. Either way is good as far as I’m concerned. (But if one of you does the second one lmk so I can buy you dinner.)

My collection of political essays comes out on Tuesday! But you can order it now, to help a writer you love, or at least like, or at the very least have heard of, or maybe are just learning about. In any case, an exciting opportunity for us all! www.the-reframe.com/fighting-in-...

the irony of publishing a report saying these groups are funded by outside actors and misrepresenting themselves as rights groups- right before being blackmailed by an outside actor and saying that these groups are actually rights groups

Valerie.vg (formerly DIYHRT.Market)@valerie.vg · 5d ago

So the key findings of Amnesty's report was that these anti-rights groups have massive funding, that it comes largely from far-right christian groups in the US, and that they're abusing UK charity law to misrepresent themselves as pro-rights organisations.

One of the many, many things genAI destroys is human collaboration. It actively creates loners, guys spinning off into the deep end with literally no one around them to go "hey what the fuck are you talking about" or "hey this sounds like the thing I've been working on" or "check out this book"

I like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them

Jennifer Romig @jennifermromig.bsky.social · 4d ago

Notetaking in meetings is tiny case in point - used to be some predictable social assumptions who would do it; now anyone can offer to do ”notetaking” by turning on the AI listener. Further interesting scenario is human recollection / notes (taken by habit by a person) conflict with AI summary

The schools that stood up to Trump thug demands—first Wesleyan and Princeton, then Harvard, then many others who were emboldened—have won in court and earned honor in history and support from alums. Columbia showed that appeasement always loses. It's never enough. Don't do it, Yale.

Need to have some frank talk about #Yale President McInnis, General Counsel Alexander Dreier and the trustees. First, they keep saying that they are compelled to enter into a settlement with the #Trump administration. Untrue. 1/
