One of the perks of my job is getting to nerd out with developers talking about their games. @owlchemylabs.com has been in VR over a decade with tons of lessons and insights to share. Thanks to @buddingmonkey.bsky.social for being generous with his time at GDC. Full interview on @uploadvr.com

We talked with Andrew Eiche of Job Simulator's Owlchemy Labs at GDC about how the company stays relevant in an ever-changing VR landscape. Details here: www.uploadvr.com/job-simulato...

Placeholder assets in a game should look obnoxiously temporary, so obvious that no one would mistake it for the final asset. In past games we've used the doge dog (rip) as an icon, hot pink versions of characters, our CEO's head, etc. If you use a temp asset that seems passable, it may stay there.

Yay XR Accessibility! So proud of our new Snap Turn feature. It was developed when snap turn was exactly what I needed. I had surgery, resulting in frequent down time, and this feature allowed me to playtest from bed without needing to turn my body. Owning this project made it much more meaningful.

New Accessibility Feature! With our NEW Snap Turn feature enabled you can pivot your perspective with a simple button pinch giving you the power to rotate the world, not yourself. But wait, there’s more: ow.ly/PwE350YpIwS

Colorful animated characters from Dimensional Double Shift with text announcing an accessibility update and a tagline about turning the world, not the living room.

My favorite bug I saw the team chatting about “There is a hole in the players’ head. When we fix it you can’t customize your avatar anymore. We’re going to leave the hole open and let the testers know”
