People need cool homes in the summer to stay healthy, and in the most extreme cases-- to survive. We didn't used to need cooling in the NW, but as the globe heats up it's showing we're not prepared. Heat pumps can get the job done with the lowest bills. Oregon needs to help more people get 'em.

Today on Volts: as affluent homeowners switch to heat pumps, the fixed costs of the fossil-gas network are born by a shrinking class of consumers who can least afford it. Today I talk with folks from @buildingdecarb.org about how to phase out gas in a thoughtful, equitable way, one chunk at a time.
