Unclear why the administration hasn't set up one of their banners proclaiming DC now "SAFE AND BEAUTIFUL" on the Monument grounds by 17th. On the plus side, I saw at least 6 national guard wandering along the fenced-off south side of the Reflecting Pool. Presumably they're keeping the fence safe.

Washington Monument grounds along 17th street, with a giant muddy, torn up patch of earth where there was grass before the independence day construction. The Washington Monument is in the background with trees along the right side of the frame and a sky of a puffy clouds. But mostly it's dirt.

Couldn’t bike into Anacostia Park yesterday due to 250 closures. Biking up the other side of the Anacostia, could see the entire park was closed. Some real Robert Moses shit, closing off the park where the Black families party.

Gotta love showing up for the hotel breakfast in Ennis, IE and they’re playing the album “The Celts”, Enya’s debut.

<stephon-voice> check out DC’s hottest new club. It’s got people in uniforms, swamp water, sheets of American Flag Blue, and an endless supply of tourists gawking!

Two tourists chatting with two national guardsmen in the background. In the foreground is the murky green water of Trump’s reflecting pool.

The fact that Elon Musk is now one of history’s greatest mass-murderers, due to his total destruction of USAID, is still far too little-known. It’s on all of us to shout this from the rooftops. Never shut up about Elon Musk’s genocidal crimes.

Listened to an NPR story this morning about mass child starvation in Senegal without a single mention of Elon Musk, the guy who gleefully created the conditions for the mass starvation

On this morning's dog walk, neighbor introduced himself by giving me his name, not the dog's. What the fuck, "Brian"

Because I still refuse to normalize this crap: riding my bike around the Lincoln Memorial this afternoon, I got to see roving bands of National Guard, DEA, and HSI. Thank goodness they were there to disrupt the usual open air drug market run by undocumented cartel members. What, that's not a thing?

Dunno if this guy’s going old school for his pomodoro timer, or what, but I’d be less surprised seeing this in Brooklyn, as opposed to walking down a DC sidewalk! cc: @popville

today I came across this trading card I'd completely forgotten about. I always loved @blairbraverman.bsky.social's stories about Haricot Vert, and was quite saddened to hear about his recent passing. Run free with the rest of the Beans, Hari, and may your memory be for a blessing. #uglydogs

A trading card with a photo of Hari, the blind Bravermountain alaskan husky, with a purple surround and green lines with yellow stars. At the top it reads "Dogs on the Trail" and at the bottom is Hari's name.
